having a weird one here, especially when it comes to trying to get mweb to work out exactly what the problem is.
when using various voip/conference utilities such as skype/viber/netmeeting/gotomeeting etc, this 4mb uncapped line has a tendency to drop packets every 60-odd seconds. this results in a pause of about 10 seconds, rendering most conference calls hard work.

at first i thought it could have been the wireless router, but going ethernet proved that not to be the case. moving over to a cell-c 3g dongle showed it wasn't the comms.

bless mweb support but if it's not on their help screen, you are pretty much asking for trouble.

anyone else here having, or noticed, issues with voip communications and mweb as an ISP?

Nope

Running a trixbox voip server on mweb uncapped home account no problems.

For me performance for video calls depends on the day and time you make the call. For example Sunday afternooons are awesome, but evenings are generally bad. This is tested on Axxess.

I did buy WebAfrica's prioritised bandwidth access but found it made no bit of difference compared to Axxess bandwidth, I subsequently cancelled and just use Axxess to make the video calls. Video calls are 2 way with a minimum 640x480 resolution. I'm on a 3meg line download and 512k upload

@andytl5 agreed, video is hit and miss. Just tried another test skype call and in 120 seconds, i lost 40 seconds worth of voice. Bah, this won't end well, thank god i'm heading back to europe in a few months.

Hi dsan

Please PM me your MWEB account details and a description of the VOIP service you are using. I will request that a technician call you to try and resolve your issue.

Kind Regards,
