Mweb customer - switch to Afrihost?

did you notice that nzb speeds on WA were terrible and never went above 400kB??

mine would mostly be between 300 and 350, and never go above 400 (even in the download plus time)
That's ridiculous.

I cancelled my webafrica account with immediate effect in the middle of last month. Yes, I'd paid for the month, but I certainly didn't have to pay for this month too.

Oh lol... so Mweb told me that if I send my cancellation notice from my @mweb.co.za email address, I needn't sign it. So I go there (I never use it) to send mail and get this...

There is nothing in the mailbox :p

I wasn't on WA uncapped - I had a 50GB account and did 700KB/sec on my 6mb line.

I've been with MWEB since they launched their 4Mbps uncapped account but am also seriously considering moving to Afrihost... Can't wait for the announcement tomorrow, but then I'll still have the 1 calendar month's notice with MWEB. I really hate companies who enforce that rule. If they do that, they should also be able to pro-rate, i.e., if you cancel now, it's effective on the 5th of next month and you only pay for 5 extra days, not the whole month

Just when you think you're out they drag you back in :D

Well I can 100% confirm that it's NOT that we're hiring Batman! Someone guessed this on Facebook!

What would he even do?? ;)

:) Will it be a limited offer? I still need to give a stupid calendar month notice with MWEB.

I used to be with Afrihost for hosting and as an ISP, but moved to MWEB when they launched their 4Mbps uncapped

I can't say for sure, but it will definitely be worth looking at. We've already got another thread regarding our 4Mbps uncapped, so you can see what people have to say about that. And tomorrow's launch might just be the cherry on top ;)

Full nntp news server with all binary groups, 1500 day retention and traffic from it isn't included in your threshold?
:-D

I had to give 1 months notice... with WA...

Well I hope with all this hype it's not something lame that gets announced tomorrow :)

Hey guys, if you have some creative ideas about what our announcement tomorrow might be about, we're running a spot competition. Tweet anything you'd like with the #AfrihostRevolution before 11am, and we'll be giving one of these away to the most creative post.
