Hi MWeb Guy, I'm trying to sign up for the 4mbps uncapped and at the start it say 'do you want a free FON router, subject to a 6month contract'.

Well I unclicked that box, I do not want a free FON Router, but the terms and conditions are still specifying a 6 month contract. ie there is no month-to-month option

Does MWeb actually have a standard 4mbps uncapped home month-to-month product? From the process I am following it seems not

Hi. ;)

It's definitely month to month, though cancellation requires one months' notice.

*edit*

Or is it not anymore?

Sigh. Holy crap this thing is slow. 2Mb Uncapped Premium and I can hardly download a thing. Re-installed Windows 7 Ultimate yesterday then proceeded to upgrade to Windows 10. And it's been a real pain trying to download various drivers and programs I need to get my system to the way I like it. Getting a lot of "Connection Reset" timeouts. Streaming is fine, tested DOTA 2 gaming was fine. Anything else, no go.

Rebooted/reconnected the router countless times. Tried several different DNS options. It's just a bloody mess.

From the router DNS shows: DNS Servers 168.210.2.2, 196.14.239.2

Are these correct? Should I replace them with something else? I can't fathom why I get so many connection timeouts or download links not working.

Morning TheRealWitblitz, the DNS you are providing is not MWEB DNS.

Do you have your router set-up to obtain the DNS automatically?

I have it set to auto at the moment, still no go. Some download sites/links just wouldn't start the download. Connection reset. The minute I connect with another ISP it works. I had this problem before. And now that I'm on a fresh OS install I can fairly judge where the problem lies.

Morning, please advise if the problem is still persisting?

If yes, please provide examples of the websites and files you are downloading.

It persists.

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25016
http://support.asus.com/ (Internal Server error when I hit this URL)
http://support.asus.com/download.as...MAXIMUS+VII+FORMULA&hashedid=cc5990tdPiScUKzO (Direct link to the driver page for my motherboard, select Windows 10 64bit from the dropdown. Try any of the "global" links under any subheading, ie. Chipset)

Those are two prime examples.

Morning, thanks for the feedback.

We have now tested downloading the Network adapter driver and we managed to successfully download the 32 and 64 bit files.

Are you processing direct downloads?

If yes, please test an alternate browser or download manager.

Please do keep us informed

Nothing works. Edge, Chrome, Opera, Firefox, Firefox with a download manager (DownThemAll). My brother brought his PC over, same thing.

The thing I don't get is, I would connect with another ISP and click the exact same link and it would start downloading. Could it be an issue with the server I log in with, I mean from the router to the exchange server?

We are looking into this in more detail from our side and will provide you feedback in due course.

Hi want to thank those involved at MWEB in sorting my billing and line management problem. It was a slow start but appreciate the effort put in in closing it out.

Hi Mweb Guy, I'm having a slight issue with my Mweb account today. I can browse the internet, stream videos on YouTube etc with no problem at all, but I'm unable to login to an MMO game. Since I work from home, I've tried throughout the day to do so, but that pesky password and username just cant seem to get through to the server, despite a 10Mb line. Many months back, I used to have this problem all the time during the day... ironically right up until I came onto this forum and asked whether online gaming was being shaped. Since then things have worked pretty well, but today has been right back to the old problem. Any ideas/suggestions? Any one else having this kind of problem today?

Hi thank you for letting me know.
I am not aware of any issues like you are explaining.

I tested your line and the readings looks fine except that it is syncing at 6Mb

Hey, yes sadly my line does only sync at 6Mbs, I am on my 1st month of 10Mb.... but will change it to 6mb this month. For some reason, Telkom cannot make my line work at 10, even though another line on the property DOES work at 10.

As I said above, everything else is working very well indeed... just... no gaming :(
