MWEB Uncapped ADSL Feedback - Part 3

Were you on 4mbps with Mweb?

Well here's the thing ... they - MWEB - suggested my speed problem was a Telkom issue and the best could do was 2 Mbps, which actually turned out to be around 1,2Mbps at best. I always believed this to be line issue - as informed by MWEB tecnicians, with the e-mails to prove it.

I cancelled with MWEB, set the line at 4 with Telkom, signed up with OW ..... Speeds are no problem since I have shed the shackles of the MWEB shysters.

Cancel and set yourself free .... That's been my experience.....

As I sit here with my 4mb premium package from Mweb running at a snails pace, (I cant tell you how slow it is, speedtest.net wont load,...its too slow), waiting for Telkom to arrive to test my line, I read your post and was struck by a sense of Deja vu.

Must admit, since I've cancelled with MWEB I've started seeing MUCH better speeds with them, weird :wtf:

Morning Submolecule

The Premium package is a superior package to the Standard package. The speed limiting is more lenient on the Premium pacakge as well. You downloaded the account and it is currently being speed limited.

You can monitor the account via My Account and once you find the balance, you will enjoy our network.

Thank you I will definitely do that, to be honest I have not experienced anything superior or even speed limiting which is more lenient, seems either the same or even worse if my modem's traffic data is anything to go by. Its just frustrating to see a service that was once the best in the country imo, go down so much.

I understand your views Submolecule, it is unfortunate that the downgrade was processed and you were still just outside acceptable parameters for your new account.

Hoping it improves for you when the throttling is lifted...

Could someone on 1Mbps or 2Mbps premium please tell me what point they got throttled? I have never been? If I look on helopeter people just complain but don't say what product they are on. The ones they do don't say if it was in 30 days or 10 days they got throttled.
Next month is November when the Telkom upgrades start and I would like to know if I have to give notice now.
I use a hell lot of youtube and imagine when then upgrade happens my usage will increase.

Afternoon nfbs, please provide me your MWEB account details via private message and I will provide you some more information after looking at your usage.

Sure ... let me help you with that ... You got throttled when you decided to stay with MWEB.... And heres the next bit of help, MWEB haven't a clue when you are going to be throttled ... the "'threshold' is as mystical as the gnomes chasing the pretty fairies ....

If you don't believe me .... Hellopeter, Facebook and this forum are a click away assuming you have some bandwidth to play with....

I left Empty Web when the popo hit the fan. I see, now nearly 2 month later, its still the same old same old.

No one has a clue what the magical limits are.

Positive responses? Really? You must have blinkers on or something. Probably some old lady that moved from her 14.4 modem to uncapped for the first time and think the service is good.

Hi zonepaulo

The throttling is done over a 30 day rolling window and you can check the account status via My Account ADSL TAB.

We believe that throttling certain individuals for bringing strain onto the Network is better than shaping on the whole Network. What this does is makes the overall customer base experience much better hence the positive feedback we've been receiving from clients experiencing better speeds.

We have a top class Network, which our entire customer base will start feeling since we are now managing the excessive users.

If you'd like, I can have a look into your account to let you know more or less when the speed limiting will be lifted.

Really MwebGuy - where the FK is that 'positive feedback' on this forum, FB, HelloPeter, etc. Lytie - U r in dreamland and gulping the Naspers coolaid! Unless the only other reason for your post I can find is that youve changed your career to comedy.

i switched to AH. and yes they shape - that experience is FAR superior that your throttling cr@pola ,,,,,, AND i've been able to use far more GB in 12 Days WITH one their highest shaping %'s applied on my account than I got with a WHOLE MONTH OF MWEBS THROTTLING. Multiples more in fact!

I will always come back to this thread - when i care - to ensure than potential users are not duped and have already done this in my private and business capacity. Mweb is now a swear word. Mweb f^kd with the wrong crowd.

Thank you for your clear and honest response @mwebguy, I will be more selective with my downloads from now on.

Mweb guy can I change the phone number that is attached to this uncapped adsl account on the web site or do I have to call Mweb centre

Why not just be smart and be more selective with the ISP you use? Pay less and get more, a lot more, and you don't have to worry about downloads either.

Oh my Gawd, You would not know what top class means unless you used OpenWeb, Afrihost or Telkom. You MwebX really are starting to act and look the same as the ANC, brainwashing the electorate with lies and confusion. This must be a new low for Mweb apart from the downgrade saga now suddenly requiring 1 month notice.

Morning schumi

You can login to My Account and change the landline number under the ADSL tab.
