Twitch.tv streaming not working again at 360p on 1Mbit. Gaming (Sc2) is fine, so is browsing.

So this seems to be an intermittent problem with regards to twitch.tv. Have you tested with another account to see if it happens as well?

Kind regards
MWEB Guy

Hi guys

Just to understand correct, the sites are accessible is it just slow.

Kind regards
MWEB Guy

The sites are fine. The video on the sites are the problem. I don't think I've ever streamed without lag (on any resolution), and Youtube only lately has it been really bad.

I've had the same problem with video streaming (Kotaku, GameSpot, YouTube, Vimeo, Viddler, you name it).

At 360p it works but at anything higher (even 480p) it buffers frequently.

Switch to Afrihost or even WebAfrica uncapped and I can stream 720p without it buffering even once.

If I watch my bandwidth in NetWorx, it jumps to 425kB/s+ and stays there for a few seconds then drops down to about 120kB/s or so and idles there which, as you can imagine, is nowhere near fast enough for HD streaming.

I e-mailed [email protected] after MWEB Guy suggested it, but I haven't heard so much as a peep from that.

Anyone on MWEB uncapped using JDownloader? If any, do you have any issues with JDownloader and MWEB? Sorry MWEB Guy, i can't find another download manager, and stop start downloading is getting out of hand. disconnects are now every 10 minutes or so.

Hi satanboy

How is your general browsing? Is it only your torrents that is giving you those speeds?

Kind regards
MWEB Guy

Hi dasco144, PostmanPot, Lycanthrope

Please advise if the speed you are getting on the streaming sites happens at particular times of the day? I am looking into it but I would like to know when you are experiencing most of the lag.

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy

Please help, my video streaming is absolutely pathetic.

Usually I wouldnt have to wait for the video to stream on my 4meg line but today it's been horrible, takes 5 mintues to stream 2 seconds of video. I'm not even exaggerating, that's how it is right now when trying to stream a music video.

What the hell is going on?

Well, 24/7, really. At night time it's less aggressive (i.e. I can manage to stream 480p :p).

720p has been impossible every time I've tried.

I've had the same problem with video streaming (Kotaku, GameSpot, YouTube, Vimeo, Viddler, you name it).

I can confirm the same issue here.
HTTP browsing is also painfully slow.
With torrents running and browsing I'm getting just over 1Mbps on my 4Mb

seems fine in PTA area.

I can never stream any quality at any time of day without lag. Youtube at the moment is not even hitting 100KB/s on the buffering. Jumping between 20KB/s and 60KB/s the whole time.

Hi dasco144

I have checked your line and iI noticed that your attenuation is on the high side and I see that your line is syncing at 2Mb.

I suggest you contact Telkom and get them to have a look into this and to set your line to 4Mb
