A bit of a price disparity between 1mb and 4mb now though. I have duly downgraded to 1mb from 4mb uncapped to save myself almost R400 a month :)

I've asked Telkom to upgrade my line to 1MB.
Would I be able to have my package upgraded now or do I still have to wait till June.
How do I get it upgraded?

MWEB Guy I know you're busy but please reply to my post a few ago about account payment, when you have a mo'. Don't wanna get in trouble with the accounts staff. :p

:)

Please PM me the MWEB account details and I will see what I can do ;)

Good morning MWEB Guy

Great waking up to the news!

I was doing 1Mbit data only month to month non debit order. Today is the day I'm supposed to pay by. Last month I paid R30 extra, so the current amount they're asking for is R269 (R299 - R30).

Would this now be R169 (R199 - R30)?

Thanks!

Hi PostmanPot

The price reduction will only take effect as of the 1st June for existing customers. This will automatically be done on our end :)

Hi Awesum. The new pricing for existing customers only takes effect from 1 June. Due to the tight timelines around the announcement of IPC price cuts by ICASA and the work that needed to be done on our side to determine the new pricing structures this was the earliest we could implement the change to align with our billing runs.

The speed increase to 1mb for existing 384k data only customers will also take some time to roll out. I don't have exact timelines on this as yet, but we expect the upgrades to be completed by 1 June to align with the new pricing.

Unfortunately this means you may have been a bit hasty in pushing ahead with your upgrade to a 1mb line - I would recommend that you ask Telkom to delay this to coincide with the speed increase on our side so that you don't incur any unnecessary costs.

Alternatively you could place your bets on the anticipated 384k to 1mb line speed upgrade that everyone is talking about and wait it out, but I must stress that we have no confirmation on Telkom's plans for this as yet :)

Thanks for the info.
I phoned the call center and they upgraded me.

Would like to thank Ann and Anisha from MWeb for sorting out the billing of the free router chop chop. Took 1 phone call and about 3minutes.
Someone from customer relations will phone tomorrow to confirm the amount has been reversed.
Now thats snappy service.
:)

Allo well done MWEB; are the 4mb users in store for any price changes?

I currently have a 1Mb/s ADSL line with uncapped internet from a different ISP, but the new Mweb offer is looking very attractive.
However, I do have a query or two about the Mweb service.
I use a VPN connection during weekdays (8AM – 5PM) to connect to my work and my average usage is under 30GB per month, currently around 28GB/month (1GB/day).

• Could you please advise me on what your average user’s data usage is per month on the 1024Kb/s uncapped account?
• Will I be throttled or restricted in any way if I continue with this average usage on the Mweb service?

Thnx

I've reached easily 130 or so gigs a month without even trying.

They don't throttle on use at all, it's just generally shaped.
