:( can some one explain what mweb considers abuse, got my second abuse email today(first one i admit i downloaded a bit much) but i haven't downloaded during the day and ive used roughly the same amount that i usually use on a monthly bases ,i just want to see what i can do so i don't get kicked. i am using the same download method that i have bin using since i got the account

Hi devdev666

You can email our abuse team and request for information as well. They will reply and inform you why you got the second email and ways to prevent you from getting another email.

I'd be interested in the outcome of this devdev666, please update in thread, if you don't mind.

I'm always curious to know if anyone getting these letters is not somehow bypassing the shaping, and as yet, I don't know of this happening.

When and if it does, I'd like to know about it, since I feel that with an 'uncapped' connection, the onus should be on the ISP, not the customer to enforce shaping, if there is too much throughput.

im not saying i blame them ,i might be doing something stupid which is why i wanted to find out for certain. i do agree if they felt i was downloading a line speed for to long they should shape me,but wouldn't that be falling under throttling ?

How much did you download, out of interest sake ?

That is what I am interested in finding out - Whether you inadvertently did something you were not meant to do. I've noticed that some of those file hosts are not shaped by MWEB, they somehow get under the radar, perhaps that's part of the problem - Although, again, I think the onus very firmly needs to be on the provider, not the client.

One thing that still concerns me vaguely about MWEB, is the clause about people not being allowed to download all the time (24/7), which I do, since the speeds are fairly erratic, especially during the day. Uncapped should mean uncapped, although I have no issue with the necessary shaping of course.

AFAIK the rules are quite simple

1. Don't bypass shaping.
2. Don't download 24.7*

*That means not maxing your line 24 hours 7 days a week. Surely you can't pay R540 and expect that ?

If you follow 1 and be reasonable with your usage then I'm quite sure you wont need to worry. I use my mweb uncapped not for sake of getting off on how much I did each month, but rather just using it when I need it. Trust me I've moved quite a lot of Linux Distros without being abusive or having to wait for hour x to hour y to do it. That's just stupid.

At least mweb don't implement rolling windows nor do they expect you like some ISPs to use multiple accounts for your various needs, which imho is a fail.

Okay thanks mweb guy, is it possible if u can figure out when the project will be finished in fourways?

I see there is a open log on the account. Our team is trying to contact you but to no avail. When will be a suitable time for them to get hold of you?

Hi MWEB Guy

Thanks for the assistance via PM last week. Got my Trial account about an hour later. Got to the landing page, accepted policies and bobs your uncle. Used the account over the weekend.

Today at about 16:00 I signed up for the service. Got my email with account details straight after that, but since then I can't use anything. Browser hangs or times out trying to connect to the MWeb landing page.

Any Ideas Please?

Thank You

Hi Krypt0n1te

No problem at all.

Pop me a PM with the account details in order for me to look into this from our side.

Hahaha You must be a bloody genius. You just reply to a thread on an open forum and suddenly everything works without me even sending the PM!!!

I'll keep that PM in the bank then. Thanks a mill.

I'm now officially a MWEB Uncapped account user!

Now where do you begin to download the internet?

LOL - what can I say... ;)

Welcome to the Mweb family :)
