I play games over my shaped line and it works great
hell I average 300ms latency to lotro EU servers
Have you tested the connection with your XBOX or PS3

Yes i have it works 80% of the time until there is a high contention rate...then i have to swap...
I normally start playing like crap and then realise my ping is sitting at 500ms :)

I noticed there was a major dip in the upstream last night. Alltho my game play did not seem to be affected, I could not participate in the group chat (COD-MW2). My voice would keep breaking up, totaly inaudable. Any one else have issue with that?

Hi fordguy

Does this happen every night at random times?
PM me your details and I will have one of our specialists assist you.

"Sometime during the night, my line just suddenly cuts off. No notice nothing. uncapped Mweb 384k. Anyone else have this issue?"

ME TOO!!!!

beside, what is the "normal" speed of 4M? I usually have about 1M, max 2M. Is that "Normal"?

Easy, you have throttling enabled in your download manager, which limits the speed you download at.

Try and use a proper registered copy of IDM. The copies have all sorts of hidden issues.

I have a few questions that I've been trying to get answered from Mweb, with no success so far, so I'm hoping that someone here can help out. The questions are with regards to the 4mb business ADSL or 4mb internet addict accounts:

• Will there be a noticeable decrease in the account speed during the day? If yes, what is the slowest speed that can be expected during the day?
• If the account speed drops below an acceptable threshold, will I be able to contact MWeb to resolve the problem? How long will it take to resolve such problems?
• Are there any monthly thresholds or any reasonable usage limitations that I should be aware of?
• Are the accounts fully unshaped?

I work for a company that does internet research, and our current IS uncapped account is too unpredictable (going down to as little as 50kB/s to be split between 20 employees during the day) and the reasonable threshold too low for what we need, so I was hoping to go to Mweb. Unfortunately, after sending them three e-mails over a two week period (to both sales and technical support), making two phone calls, and sending a private message here on the forum, I am yet to get a response. I don't know if Mweb customers get the same quality of service, but I've not been impressed to date.

Whenever I dial and I load a page, I get directed to this : http://landingpages.mweb.co.za/MWebHomeIncorrectUsernameorPasswordPage/tabid/817/Default.aspx
I then have to redial several times and constantly refresh pages to get normal internet use working again. I haven't changed the username or password.

This only started happening recently and is really starting to annoy me, anyone have any idea wtf is causing this?

*I'm also unable to connect to IS gaming servers, I can however see them on servers lists and view server info(Steam)

The business accounts do not have thresholds actually neither of their products do. Go and read what it states on mweb's website it answers all your questions.

Okay, odd, when I am connected(all other browsing works fine), and I try to load isgaming.co.za - I get directed to the invalid login landing page. I assume what's causing this is also the reason I can't connect to IS gaming servers...

Mweb, wtf?

*Well, I got it fixed. After dialing through with an IS account and still ending up on the landing page I flushed my DNS and reset my routes with Traffic Splitter, then it worked again.

ODD.

No, yes, no, yes.

Could you possibly provide a link to where the questions are answered? I looked through Mweb's description of the accounts, as well as scanning through their legal notices, but couldn't find the questions answered conclusively.

From reading these forums, I assumed that the business accounts would not have any threshold, but I just wanted to have it confirmed before signing up. The same with the unshaped, I assumed it would be, but I wanted to make sure. I couldn't find any mention of a line speed during the day, or of the service I could expect if it became too slow for work. If this was simply an account for personal use, then I would give it a try and deal with any problems as they occured. Unfortunately, as I said in the previous e-mail, the company has roughly 20 employees that depend on internet access. A day or two of no internet or very slow internet (as we experienced with IS) is a lot of money wasted on pay cheques, which is why I want to know what to expect before getting an account.

No, yes, no, yes.
Thanks! Do you have any idea how long it will take to resolve any problems, and why their support has failed to respond to my queries to date? I spoke with their customer support, but the man I spoke to seemed to have a fact sheet in front of him from which he read. At one point he informed me that I will get a guaranteed 450-500kB/s at all hours of the day on their R500p/m uncapped account . He also told me that any problem should be resolved within 48 hours, which is a very long time, but since he seemed clueless, I'm not sure how seriously to take him.

@MWEB operations:

Why not have an unshaped account based on Seacom instead of the addicted account that has the business typed redunancy?

Something that doesnt cost R2500?

Hey all

Eventually got my 4Mbit line sorted today and got the Mweb 4Mbit account to go with it. My download speeds, http specifially, have been terrible. I get better speeds on my 512Kbit line with Afrihost capped account at my offices. Most of my Http downloads dont complete properly even though it says it is completed, for eg MS Security Essentials and ATI catalyst. Very dissapointed tbh. I was expecting blazing quick downloads. Even speedtest gives my very dissapointing results!

Any suggestions as to what the problem could be, or is it still Seacom??

What is the modem syncing on?

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1335 kbps 511 kbps
Line Attenuation 47.5 db 29.0 db
Noise Margin 13.2 db 11.6 db

Good point, seems to be a little slow... but it was at 4096 earlier!?

Hi, mweb I have been having problems connecting to the news server over the past 2 days.

Is this a widespread issue, or should I PM you my details?
