MWEB Uncapped - something big might be happening tomorrow!

Assuming that is it. Not sure it will be. Sounds like something bigger than line rental removal. It won't make me happy as i need a telephone.

Nope. Not yet.

This will require a massive billing system upgrade by Telkom. Billing is done on the POTS portion not the ADSL portion!
 
What would the reaction be if telkom only did this for mweb subscribers?

Could it be called anti competitive? is there a law against such actions in this country?

Cannot happen. Telkom will be hauled before the Competition Commission (again).

They've reduced all their old accounts.

They announced it on their Free The Web page on Facebook. The majority of those members on that page have MWEB's uncapped. I don't think they would get them excited for capped price reductions.

Just my thought.

But the cheaper prices all fall under the umbrella of "Free the Web" ... and it is time for them to review their other account prices... they are out of synch with the uncapped offering.
 
Well lets looks at this from a business perspective. A converged dstv/mweb uncapped product would make them more money, so clearly this will get done at some point. Hopefully it happens tomorrow.

The question which still needs to get answered is why is mweb's parent company pushing the very thing which is clearly their greatest threat, namely the internet? Obviously they want to fight the coming dstv mass exodus by becoming a player in the very thing subscribers will cancel dstv for. A converged solution will kill too birds with one stone, and essentially force continued support for dstv. They get more money, and we get more stuff for less. Sounds like a win win situation to me.
 
I'm inclined to agree with the IPTV or DSTV collaboration proposals mentioned earlier...
