We are currently on the MWEB AllIn 512 5GB Cap R549 pm Option
With a Billion 7401 VGP MWEB Router
Experiencing alot of ADSL Outages either from Telkom ADSL Line or MWEB that has to be coaxed into resetting the Port..

Would it be better speed/connection/stability wise going uncapped and which Uncapped Option?

Considering:
R349 Uncapped 384kbps Shaped
R599 Uncapped 512kbps Shaped
R629 Uncapped 384kbps UnShaped ... Any other Advice Suggestions ??

I'd actually say take the uncapped 512shaped. Depending on your needs it will be much better than the 384. Mweb are having capacity constraints at the moment though that will only be resolved at the end of september.

Hi xrapidx,

You were asked to PM your details yesterday, why not give us the chance to assist you?

Mweb OPS. Earlier this month I put in my cancellation due to degrading all round performance. Will The IPC upgrades really make a difference that I can retract my cancellation or am I just grabbing at straws here?

They are still taking on customers,
which seems a bit irresponsible.

It also identifies you, so you are less
likely to get openly upset on an
anonymous forum.

I'm not too worried about anonominty with this nick - I've had it too long - so its easy to trace back to the real me. My anon nick is way different :p

Been playing WoW the last few days at home During the day and even up till 5pm the pings seem a little unstable they shoot up and then down and even DC me from the Server. Is this only happenning to me or is there someone else feeling the pain? It seems to ease a little at night. I just want to have a nice constant ping during the day. Is there anything special happening or down today that would be causing this?

@MWEB Operations - I appreciate your attempts at PMing me - but as mentioned earlier - my mailbox is full and I can't delete the messages in my mailbox from work for some odd reason.
.
If I get home tonight - I'll try send a message through facebook- or clear my inbox of unwanted messages.

They shape the account more during the day as this is a home account and give preference to business users. If you want stable during the day you're gonna have to start paying more.

My connection is better during the day than at night... around this time everything becomes dead slow even my browsing :/

Usenet download speeds have been terrible of late on a 4 Mbps line/account ... I'm using Astraweb so it should be going full speed. Only getting 20% of my usual throughput.

@MWEB - looking at the feedback in this thread - its pretty obvious this isn't an account specific problem.

Usenet download speeds have been terrible of late on a 4 Mbps line/account ... I'm using Astraweb so it should be going full speed. Only getting 20% of my usual throughput.

Yip - I'm getting 10% - so be happy :) Also Astraweb.

I am also getting 10% of my line speed for Astroweb, which is about the same as 384k at full speed

Classic - called MWEB support - the guy said I must try remove dsl from my username - and suddenly downloading at 420KB/s

Could MWEB please explain this?

Yeah, I'd also love to know. Maybe I should also remove the dsl from my username? seriously

I think MWEB have bitten off more than they can chew - they've sold the product to too many users - and now can't handle the load... so they're nailing the accounts with throttling... I'm not sure if it'll remain at this speed - but it certainly a huge improvement - I can actually watch youtube videos again.

Well, that's what i was told after i couldn't even access the news servers, and voila, going at full line speed for a few days again.
Although it is still quite sticky.

Mines averaging 330kb/s now... I was happy with 200kb/s - I don't get why companies like MWEB can't give us an honest explanation, instead of constantly screwing us around.

Yes MWEB please un shape gaming traffic.

The actual amount of data sent is very low while playing games and it would definitely improve the experience allot

Although I’m busy fighting Telkom to just get my line fixed
Since last week Thursday my line can’t keep a sync for longer than 3 minutes

We're working on this Veneficus :) if I could get a few sound offs on what games people are currently playing and what their experience is, particularly when it comes to issues like downloading maps and in game content/patch delivery of any sort. We are raising some questions around this with a supplier and I want to make sure we have a comprehensive picture of the current issues.

Hi xrapidx

As we've stated we are load balancing some of our customers onto SAIX wholesale bandwidth until we're able to finalize the upgrade to our IPC network in September.

If you were giving that assistance then you are running on wholesale bandwidth for now.

The username change is effectively shifting you onto an alternative realm, which is provisioned differently on the network.

We'd prefer not to have too many customers in this space so we are being conservative in our approach as to how we make these moves. It can also cause support issues for our less tech savvy customers to be moved around like this, which I'm sure you can appreciate.

As soon as the additional bandwidth goes live we will be shifting the entire realm back onto IPC.

I hope that clears things up for you.

Kind Regards
MWEB Operations(Tech Manager)

haven't been able to get more than 40kb/s, on my 4mb line, in the last couple of days.. really bad shaping. I think im going to leave mweb soon..
