MWEB Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

Hi

Always been happy with Mweb uncapped and have been getting the speeds I would expect from a 4mb account. Only got my own account about a month ago. But the speeds are so bad for the last 2 weeks!

I want at least some money back with my next debit.

YouTube is horrible.
News downloads are so slow!!!
180kb/s Max international when I am lucky.
Local Latency have been so bad. 60-800.
Random timeouts when browsing.
P2P – Not even going to comment.

This is sad.

I do not see how this service can degrade so quickly because of a migration or internal network problem? Should the upgrade not make it better? Or at least for those who have been migrated? It was running and performing great! More international bandwidth? You telling me in 2 weeks time they got too much subscribers all of a sudden and simply just ran out? How does that make sense? Don’t see how any of this is going to make a difference.

I will give it another week and if it’s not sorted find the better alternative.

Same here... was told that after the P2P shaping was intensified that the lines will now be full speed after 1AM. Stayed up till 1:30 only to see speeds jump between 100-200kb/s as inconsistant as a chicken on a hot road. Lol... as im typing my next Mweb payment went off... Now that just ticked me off right there.. I think this will be the last of my adventure with them, lets see which ISP will give us good speeds for a months or so next...
 
Had another very very slow night. I use their own news server, did not even get a 1gig last night on my 4 meg line ;-(

From what the rep was saying, we should be seeing an improvement in the next few days.

Gotta say, things have been going from bad to worse, but I'll wait a couple of days for these upgrade things to be finished.

When 384 gets slow it gets slow. :(
 
Indeed. Somewhere the fools from WebAfrica are getting happy that the uncapped wagon is coming to a slow halt.
 
just out of curiosity, does anyone know if kaspersky scans news items before downloading? Yesterday i upgraded operating systems, i was getting a constant speed update on the news client, after installing mainly kaspersky it spikes at 100some odd kb (512k line) and does not update as frequently?

Anybody having issues connecting to MWEB? I have to use my Cybersmart backup account to post this and I have contacted tech support. Wow first line support are not bright nut they did say my issue has been escalated. I have never had problems in the past with MWEB but I am never happy when I hear "I don't know" from a techie and that I will get contacted at some time that they have looked at it. Till then what do they expect me to do???

Dude chill! Im pretty sure he didn't mean to triple post. He has 209 more post's then you, I'm pretty confident he's not that dumb. Have you considered that his MWEB connection keeps timing out and he is unaware that his messages have gone through? Don't be a reject.
 
according to my altbinz, i only managed to download 4.59GB from 22h00 last night until 08h00 this morning. that's 10 hours.

so i did some maths, and
4.59GB = (4.59 * 1024) 4700.16MB = (4700.16 * 8) 37601.28mb.
10 hours = (10 * 60 * 60) 36000 seconds.
which means my ave download was (37601.28 / 36000) 1.04mbps on my 4mbps line.

sad panda face.
 
I have no problem being shaped during the day, but at the beginning of the service I was getting 28K on my downloads after midnight on my RS on my 384k line. I was up really late last night working, and at 2am this morning I was getting 10K-12K!
There is nothing wrong with my line. My ADSL was down for a week, so I took advantage of Afrihosts 3 for 1 special, and I was getting the full download speed I expect.

If MWeb's contention ratio is so bad at 2am they need to seriously go out and get more bandwidth.

I am seriously looking at Afrihosts 50GB for under R500 special. It is R200 bucks more, but no heartache.
 
I don't know why you guys are complaining, I've done about 60GB in the last 4 days, I'm really happy with my 4mb MWEB line right now, happier than before.

Thing is, they not shaping me the way they used to, in fact there is very LITTLE shaping. I'm actually concerned that this might bite me in the arse later :-(

to the rest of you kids, i was having phone issues and that's why it got triple posted. I was not on a PC.
