MWEB Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

Mweb newsservers are useless. this uncapped thing is nothing but useless now. same that happened with the other guys. Digichilli also had uncapped and was really good but now they are crap. Afrihost uncapped was good but now crap. screamer uncapped adsl was good but now also crap.

This is what is happening to MWEB. Uncapped was good but now it's very bad. they must fix there issues. internet solutions uncapped business is the only way to go. I'm getting 50KB/s 24/7 and been getting that speeds since 2 years ago o and that's on a 512KB/s business uncapped solutions. It's a bit expensive but at least i'm getting my full speed all the time and latency are very good.

I suggest going with that solution if you are a couple of people sharing a connection.

Hi Nelis

We are not aware of any problems on our news servers. We are doing more testing on our side.

Kind regards
MWEB Operations

Just a quick word from a 384 user - if you think your 4Mb connection is slow, my current 230Mb DL on FDM says 50 hours 30 mins to completion... (0,5Kb/s)
oh wait, it's just stopped:confused:

At 11PM current (uTorrent) speed is 5Kb/s, as it has been since 5pm.

Everything that is not general web browsing is grinding to a halt.

As a believer in reputable feedback - I checked last night's performance (P2P DL's) and saw just under 30kb/s between 1 and 2am this morning, whereafter it started to drop off.

As a noob I'd be genuinely interested to know what requirements the national network has until 12PM that results in some severe shaping until then. (Reporting shows the same pattern every night with speed generally dropping off around 5AM again)
Like I said, not a complaint since I realise that with a shaped account it's to be expected and that P2P is lowest priority, but as so many have said before, in April this year I used to be shaped heavily up until about 8pm. Since then it's gotten progressively worse for many of the reasons mentioned in these forums..

This service is degrading fast.

On a 4Mb line, non-HTTP (international) speeds max out at 10KB/s during the day and 40KB/s at night, making using a VPN highly frustrating. Add to that frequent international disconnects in the last few days (for a minute or so at a time), and I'm getting fed up.

Yeah I dunno whats up. During the DAY when it's supposed to be throttled for use to make HTTP and Business faster. I get better gaming speeds than I do after hours when I play games on PS3 etc.
It's almost like I'm switched around.

Is this still because of the switchover from the SAIX to MWEB network?\ or is it a Cap;e Town (MWEB) specific thing?

Well that's making it a lot worse than it should be, but we'll see once they get their network sorted out and the additional international bandwidth online next week sometime. Theoretically it should improve quite a lot, double the IPC bandwidth and 1.2Gb extra on international. If it doesn't improve then it's a lost cause for now.

Any HoN players able to login with mweb? I just got booted and cant log back in but strangely enough i can still browse.

Edit: OK seems their login server was down as i expected

Crawling along. Around 6 to 10kb/s per file (10 or so files), using 3 threads each. So around 80kb/s out of my 4Mb line with my 4Mb account.

MWEB, you guys are thieves for what you are charging for 4Mb accounts - they should be billed for the same price as 384kb accounts as you are just unable to provide anything decent anymore.

Have noticed odd behaviour when downloading for the last week or so. I have a 384kb line. When I start downloading, I get 40kB/s for the first few minutes. Then the speed drops to 25kB/s and after another few minutes it drops to 15kB/s. When I stop and start the download I see the same behaviour - downloading at full speed, then dropping to eventually 15kB/s.
What's the story, MWeb?

Grrrr.

So I (like I'm sure many other people did) sent the guys from MWEB an email the day before yesterday to find out why my connection is slower than than that banjo-playing kid from "Deliverance"...

For starters, they took more than day to get back to me! I can understand that they have a lot of clients, but surely you want to get back to your customers within a couple of hours or, heck, even within an hour? But that's a rant for another day.

Anyway, to make matters worse and as per usual, I got the standard "There's no problem on our side, please phone Telkom" response back from them, which is what they tell me every single time I contact them about connectivity problems. Every time!

It irks me SO MUCH that they can BS me/us so blatantly when so many people are complaining about service degradation! It's basically a blatant and outright lie, if you think about it?

I'm very very VERY dissapointed in them at the moment, but I suppose it was too much to expect for my connection to keep on behaving as well as it has been doing for the last couple of weeks. This IS the South African Telecoms industry we're talking about here, after all...

Fix it, please MWEB. It's weekend, I WANT my fast connection! *twitch*

if p2p speeds dont pick up by next week im dumping mweb, including all the accounts our company and affiliates have with them, il persuade everyone i know that mweb sucks balls, its just not on, i was maxing at 130kbs for most of the night and thats unacceptable for a 4meg line.

What's up with MWEB today, my upload speeds are barely exceeding 2.2KB/s on a 384k line. I cant even remote desktop to my PC properly. Download speeds are still normal weirdly enough...

384kb account, been abysmal since ten days ago. so started downloading a torrent last night. in 8 hrs , i did.. drumroll; 16% out of a 350mb file. a grand total of 56 mb, this from a episode that has a few thousand ppl seeding. reading this thread gives you an idea that mweb is busy 'upgrading' their network.. the question i have to ask is why are the speeds worse than when SEACOM went down? will give mweb 10 more days then im just gonna cancel my acc.. heh, by then hopefully the torrent will be completed.

I'm hoping to see some speed this weekend, been unable to do anything on Astraweb the past week or so. Following MWEB Ops' comments here things should be sorted within the next week, I'm hoping for the weekend though.
