Any one els getting very very good speeds on astraweb today?

Getting slow HTTP download speeds tonight, sheesh trying to download Virtualbox at 50KB/S

00:30 and I'm getting a combined total of ~10k from MWEB using both torrents & newsgroups...can this really be called a broadband service?

Even my games think mweb is slow.one of my games keeps throwing an error when i try to update it.i searched the games forum and found out that the error usually happens when your connection is too slow.they say it's a safety protocol or something like that for their users.

might as well keep pressing retry,i already wasted a combined of 300mb on it and it's just a 20mb file.

p2p last night was absolutely shyte. I accept the aggressive, bandwidth demand management strategy (MWEB), but now the midnight slot 1am-6am seems to be within the <64kBps range. Will monitor over the weekend to substantiate.

Speeds last night were ok, moved 600MB (thats my norm on MWEB).

Please, please let us have decent speeds this weekend ;)

Managed 4 gigs in 12 hours yesterday on 4mb line:(..but yea giving us a few hours of unshaped when our net has bin going down so frequently would be nice

Mine wasn't bad :) I'm convinced MWEB do a round robin on performance.

26 Nov 2010 00:47:31 26 Nov 2010 10:35:13 237.6 8449.2 8686.

I'd give my left...gonad for that (on a 384 line, trust me i feel shaping harder than you do), stop complaining.

Don't know what I have done right but my downloads where cruising at a solid 700 last night..
Torrent 350, Newsgroups 250 HTTP 100
wootwoot
Managed +-120Gigs this month.
Not bad tx MWEB

Dirty little secret

I'm sitting on 200GB - highest since uncapped was launched ages ago... and its high purely because I've been getting ****ty speeds - ironic.

Oi in-spite of my best efforts I've only managed 41 GB this month on a 512 account. Not that it is only about the volume for me, it's more about getting the stuff I want / need done. If I could have added another 40 - 50 GB to that I would have been well satisfied, but now sadly, I have an ever growing queue of goodies waiting patiently. I am fortunate enough to have a 30GB WA account as well, which I use to get those "can't wait any longer" bits of news.

Good Afternoon Everyone

Please note the following mailer regarding network maintenance this weekend, which will be going out to our clients this afternoon:

Dear MWEB Member

We are undergoing additional network improvements to prepare for implementation of our SAT-3 link in Cape Town. This will give us even more international capacity and further redundancy on our network.

In order to carry out this change, some preparation work needs to take place tomorrow night. Our Cape Town IPC links will have to be taken offline for a short period. We will be routing all our Cape Town IPC traffic to Johannesburg at midnight, which will last for approximately 3 hours.

We will also use this opportunity to activate additional caching servers in Cape Town, which will reduce the traffic on our north-south links and further optimize network performance.

The impact of this will result in us having to limit Peer 2 Peer traffic during this time. You may experience brief periods of slow international traffic while some configuration changes are made to our Seacom links.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Kind regards
MWEB Operations

Sounds good MWEB, thanks for the heads up your continued efforts to improve!

For now my NNTP (international) is flying like a rocket for the first time (at this time of day) in a long time, thank you :)
