Ah good, just checking. Would be interesting to know what percentage of problems exist between the keyboard & chair

Yeah, just reading through the various threads there are many examples of users experiencing a problem and from the go blaming the ISP. Only later to discover it's an issue with their router, exchange or something else on their end.

Latency was bad for me in WoW last night. Browsing was also slow. Telkom are coming out today, hopefully, to come and check my line. Hopefully they'll sort it out once and all.

Heh, probably wishful thinking...

Hi TheYak

Please keep me updated with the feedback Telkom provides you pertaining to your line. If you are still experiencing slow browsing and latency on WoW, I would like to investigate it from our end as well.

Regards,

Has anybody here been able to update their Wii on shaped uncapped? I keep on getting a network error, and after some googling it seems the problem lies with Mweb...

I updated a couple of months back, and there was a problem using the MWeb account. Switched to a different account and the update ran no problem.

Mweb Ops..

Does MWeb shape the Wii-shop downloads ???????

Hi fbman

I imagine those downloads would get delivered via normal http? We do know that the traffic manager correctly identifies other Wii traffic and treats it as gaming - I've spoken to our engineers and they will do some general testing with Wii updates etc, to make sure there are no issues there.

In terms of the shop downloads if you'd like to PM me your username and then let me know the next time you download something I can take a look and see what the traffic is being categorized as.

Discover the Internet with MWEB

From the recent "Discover the Internet with MWEB" email:

Since MWEB launched uncapped ADSL, MWEB consumers use more than 2 Petebytes (quadrillion bytes) of data per month

I notice that MWEB is using the new nomenclature: kylebytes, meganbytes, gigibytes, terrybytes and petebytes.

When problem solving, one must first look at the most likely cause.

They don't easily roll off the tongue.

(Is Mweb set as your home page on your browser? You seem to have all things Mweb at your fingertips ;))

Glad you got that one sorted out Ronjay and thanks for illustrating the wide variety of things that should not be overlooked when you suddenly start having connectivity problems. It reminds me about that story with the life support system and the vacuum cleaner :)

There is no way that everyone that is having problems with the internet these past few weeks all of a sudden have failing routers and faulty lines, especially since I already wasted money buying a router, the internet constantly dips and I get disconnected during raids in wow at night time. Come out and say that you screwed up or there is a screw up somewhere and you are fixing it, instead of blaming the users! Or I will be looking for a new ISP very soon

Jaco I think perhaps you're misinterpreting: I was just commenting on the fact that Ronjay found the solution to his problem and the importance of methodical troubleshooting. However I am genuinely not aware of anything that we've 'screwed up' at present, perhaps you'd like to provide us with your account info in private and I'll get one of our specialists to investigate your problem immediately and see what can be done to assist you.

EDIT: There we go :)

Argh past 2 days I've been having major issues with steaming the GSL (live starcraft 2 in korea). Runs from 11am SA time. It has been fine since the beginning of the year, but suddenly the throughput is terrible. Any ideas?

Can provide a link (to be used in VLC) if it'll help figure out the problem:

What kind of details do you need?

Hi Jaco

I'm assuming from the level of frustration in your post that you have an ongoing problem that you've been attempting to get help with, so if you gave us your username, or a reference number if you've been given one then we can take a look at the case history and see what we can do to get the matter resolved for you.

Hi rsd - if you can provide some links I'll get this tested for you. Have you checked other streaming to see if it's your connection, or a problem with the source?

EDIT: Sorry I'm blind :)

I sent MWEB Operations my Account number and Username, I unfortunately don't have time during the day to log complaints with your department so I lack any kind of reference number, please do see if you can sort anything out for me as I am quite annoyed by the problem.
