Pfffft, now I am experiencing slow speeds, again. 98 byte/s. Rubbish. Can't stand this crap anymore. Mweb have become the most unreliable uncapped provider.

Hmm weird stuff. I always assumed that when i get half line speed aka 20 kb/s due to shaping on p2p that 4mb users would be shaped to 200kb/s and 1mb users would be shaped to 50kb/s. Like a percentage based thing with regards to account speed, guess that isnt the case.

All in all, i think they did something to make it better these past 2-3 days. I have been having full speed during early evenings now and even today im running at 3/4th line speed on uncached content on mweb news server which is pretty amazing!

I want say i am thankful to Mweb for responding to asy1um's post and for the speeds being much better now, hope it stays decent for most of the months to come.
I always want to thank Will for responding to me again via PM and I respect the fact that he did even if i was a complete ******* :)

Hope you guys get sorted too, will keep a lookout and update a bit later again.

I get a full 50KB/s on news servers!! I use to get 200KB/s over weekends! come on Mweb! Some help here

Hi just tried Utorrent on Mweb uncapped 4 meg and maximum speed achieved was 160kB/s. Is this a reasonable speed to achieve?

Compared to this below it's amazing. There do not seem to be a constant experience on Mweb. It's up and down like a Yo-Yo, now good for some, later for others. Whatever these prioritizations experiments the JHB engineers are playing with seems to be a failure, maybe Mweb must just employ engineers that know what they are doing.

I just started up my news server again to see if there are any improvement on my side. I am sorry to experience none. So ruling out congestion there seem to be something else going on. P2P is not much better at all running at a incredible 20KB/s.

This is a DMT print for my modem and line. Yesterday the SNR was very unsteady, today constant

Not only JHB i am in durban and been having the same issue up one moment latency downloads etc are good then down the next browsing speeds bad latency bad iv been told it might be a congested exchange but i dont know its the first time i have ever had this problem and i have had my dsl now for 4years and been on the same exchange

Hi, don't know this news server bit, but downloaded GRABIT and then tried logging into news.mweb.co.za. Don't know what I was downloading but got the terrific speed of about 2OKBs, mainly about 16KBs. I also have to assume that I don't actually know what I'm doing and will have to experiment some more :)

It probably just updated? You need to get a NZB file to test. You have to first create a server by right click My Grabbit, add server, insert a name ex. Mweb, server is news.mweb.co.za, connections slider = 4. For NZB's try http://www.nzbsrus.com, register (free) and then download any small NZB and then try to use it with Grabit by click on NZB Import and then (grab) radio button. If it says "article not found" try another NZB. You have to first create a server by right click My Grabbit, add server, inset a name, server is news.mweb.co.za,, connections slider = 4.

OK done that. Just waiting for confirmatory email from NZB. Another question how do you insert the graph in your mail?

Mail or post? Download and install a nice program called Gadwin prntscreen, one of the best.

http://www.gadwin.com/download/ps_setup.exe

Then just select (copy) by using the keyboard "press print screen" key and then select the graph picture area (Gadwin set up to copy rectangle) and save, then upload the picture to the internet via a picture host site or under "photos" in MyBB forum, Once done then right click on your uploaded picture, copy "picture URL" and paste in the post using the "Insert picture" radio button on top of quick post or advanced post.

Too complicated. Have downloaded some of the file and it runs at between 180 and 200 KB/s. Based on your problems that seems good to me.

Thanks, the big devide seems to be the JHB customers as opposed to the rest. sight.

Can you pm me the exact file name. I want to test whether the file will run the same speed or still slow on my side.

I am shocked. Whatever happened I do not know. I loaded your file and it kicked butt. Then I changed to a free news server and all hell broke loose. Then I returned to the Mweb news server and it remained flying. Pictures to follow.

I have been complaining to the support abt the news server as well, they told me that it is a best effort service and it is something that they dont support, I have been to busy to the test for them,
guess today that I do the test the speeds seems to be fine, but still getting low speeds on the news server, at least it @ 50kbps at the moment in time, previously had about 20 -30kbps,
Told them that I am not the only experiencing such low speeds

Getting great speeds on news servers this morning, let's hope this is an indication of things to come :) The quality of service definitely has been better overall these past couple of days.

Going full speed 384k torrents have not had this at this time of the day in many months.
