Well i just had maurice from the support center call me and we ran various tests and it was determine that my line flucations and horrbile p2p speeds were related to Mweb as we tried various other non fnb accounts (which all ran perfect). so hopefully in the next day or two, i should be sorted.

top job to maurice. i prefer to deal with Mweb support than Telkom. at least Mweb isn't reading from a book and stating "reset router" or "reboot pc". :)

just adding that downloads are now impossible. browsing barely possible. whats going on??

im on 4meg uncapped

Bump again @ Mweb chaps. Over a week still no feedback. Tracert fails. Why is this site inaccessible on Mweb ? For the love of all things holy some feedback please.

Hi there

I did log this with our networks team when you raised it initially - I haven't had any feedback as yet. I see that you have subsequently discovered it to be a blacklisting of the dynamic ip ranges? Unfortunately this can sometimes be the fallout from bot attacks occurring from customers with infected PC's. While we do make every effort to identify and assist customers who fall prey to this type of incident we have very little control over the reaction of the owners of remote sites such as you have experienced. Blacklisting the entire Class B does seem a little extreme. If you are in touch with the site hosts please recommend to them that they mail our abuse team if they encounter any further such issues and we'll do our best to identify the source of the problem and eliminate it.

How about assisting me? You asked, I answered.

Hi Randhir,

I have just spoken with our Network coordinators and they have tested the news server and have found no speed issues.

Kind regards,

MWEB Guy

Firstly, there's a few people here who have said they can't connect.

Secondly, you're right, this isn't a speed issue. Speed issues are for when you can actually connect. I cannot connect to the new server. This is a connection issue, and I'm not calling your Network coordinators liars, but they're welcome to come here and see for themselves. :)

Wait so your network coordinators are getting full speed to news.mweb.co.za ? How many connections and which port? Cause im going at 17kb/s now. Thats considered a speed issue isnt it?

What is weird is that an app I have been using for years, Soulseek, has been dead as a doornail since Mweb had issues last week. I'm lucky to get between 0.5 and 1.0 kbps whereas any other account is no problemo. A port closed up perchance?

All I really want from Mweb is a yes or no answer, Did Mweb change shaping policy on their News Server. If yes then Im happy, but if no then I want to know What happened to my speed.

Its hard to get a straight answer out of them. When they respond to me they just give a generic shaping explanation response. Either they cant or they dont want to answer the question of whether or not something has changed in policy the last 1-2 weeks. They just ignore that specific part :(

Yea at first I tought it was incompetence, that they did not understand me. This is why their terms and conditions allow them to do what they want, if they wanted to limit their News Server to 5 KB/s they can and you have no legal standing to any authority. Sill hopping that a company with the resources of Mweb will be able to deliver. On a side note my torrents are going full speed never had this before 1am previously on my 384k line.
