http on an shaped 4mb account should still occasionally give you near 4mb speeds, not below 1mb speeds, then i might as well pay for the 1mb product

Glad I'm not the only unshaped account holder who's having major problems. My download average from 7 AM this morning till now is sitting at 19KB/s. Two weeks ago I was averaging well over 30KB/s. :(

I may be wrong here but when I read the Will's comments it's sounds like he's trying to tell shaped account users that these issues are quite normal as they form part of a shaped service yet he fails to acknowledge the fact that UNSHAPED users are also experiencing throughput problems.

The problem is more global than he seems to realize as it's not limited to shaped account holders only.

Anthropoid your question has two answers:

No http <> p2p unless you are talking about a one-click-hosting source such as the Oron/Rapidshare/Megauploads of the world. these sites essentially provide p2p functionality via a different medium and are given the same priority as torrent and NNTP traffic. The same goes for any other services such as seedboxes, torrent vpn's and the various other flavors of services specifically marketed for shaping bypassing services.

downloads from nvidia servers definitely would not fall into this category. It's possible that Nvidia is serving the file from an Akamai cache which doesn't always give the greatest speeds, we have been looking at methods to address the speeds of Akamai cached content for quite some time, but unfortunately this is not an issue with a straight forward solution.

to answer your second question video streaming would definitely not fall in to the p2p class and we would always try to give this the best priority possible.

Connecting, but currently only getting between 10-20Kbps.

Update: Bang on 6pm - full connection speed to nntp. :) Hope it lasts!

Update: Bah - I should have kept quiet. Very intermittent now between 20Kbps and 200Kbps....mostly 20Kbps though.

Just went and payed for online the dsl-lite 7GB package from Axxess at only R19 per gig. Now my iTunes podcasts and app updates are flying at 460KB/s, instead of the 15KB/s to 50KB/s that I have been getting for more than a week!! If this doesnt show Mweb there is something wrong on their side then I dont know!
 
This is beyond a joke. My WoW ping is not playable. I can not stress how frustrating this is. Please let me know what the problem is. WoW uses maybe 250-300mb A NIGHT. I can not get a decent ping. I even use Battleping which is supposed to help this but its not helping. I am getting so frustrated. Some information would be gladly appreciated.

Edit: Trying to update my WoW Public Test Realm for tonight's testing and I am currently getting erratic and unstable speeds. Its using HTTP Download and its going between 50-80kb/s. Its a 100mb download. Now I wont be able to join my guild on testing the new bosses because there is something horribly wrong with your network that you cant seem to find the problem. Please fix it. These downloads used to go at a stable 100kb/s.

I cant see how paying for almost a months faulty product can be legal ?

NNTP going full speed after 6 for me too, at least this is better than waiting till 12-1am to get full speed. Mweb news server not paid news server. Its an improvement, at least I get 14 hours of full speed and 10 hours of isdn speed now on NNTP. 384 connection so dunno how it is for 4mb users, but for 384 its pretty decent now. Just using ftp site to get my series during the day :) FTP is 30kb/s during the day, not full but close enough.

Will, has the new settings or w/e on the news server kicked in yet? Seems better, just want to know if the changes have been implemented or might it get better still?
 
What I really dont understand is that I have the 4mbit Uncapped Account from Mweb on a 1 megabit line. I should NEVER have lower than 100kb/s on HTTP. Its so unstable and erratic that im on average downloading this patch at 50kb/s.
 
It was back to good speeds this morning here in CT. Then ground back to a near halt before lunch time and has been pretty slow since then. However, the news server was flying half an hour ago but it didn't last too long and is now dead again.
