I have a 4mb line with Mweb. I got around 150 kbps. So I got myself an astraweb account and it was WOW... Got like 250 - 380kbps dep. on the time. Now it's just like 75 - 120kbps no matter the time.. WTF :(

you are lucky - i am crawling at +- 40KB/s - also on a 4mb line.
I signed up on the 16th Apr - and it was atleast 5 times faster for the 1st few days for the same time slot.

what gives?

EDIT: Just switched to my Afrihost capped account now - and I am getting between 320 and 400 KB/s

this sucks big time. anyone else with the same experience?

mmmm.... Hoping this bubble isn't a going to burst, but I guess if one keeps pumping the bubble... it's got to burst... i burst...

Gotta keep on pumping man, gotta hope that there're many users with low usage subsidizing the rest.

That's the nature of the beast.

Fired up a few torrents - getting a consistent 150kB/s. I'm watching a youtube video at the same time with no buffering. Location: Centurion.

one thing i have to commend mweb thus far is how they seem not to be chasing people who may be breaking the continous download term in the ToS.

"Make the circle bigger! Show dem!" ;)

Sign up your grannies and and aunties and uncles and everyone you know that uses few gigs per month. It will only get better and better as more cables land and fibre rollout progresses in SA.

They do seem, as Blackhand mentions, the undisputed winner of the uncapped war. :D

@MWEB

I upgraded on the 30th of last month, I was advised i was going to pay at most around R30-40 more on my next payment, instead a few sums were done with my account and I got billed R94 more, I know this might seem to be a paltry ammount to quible over but for me money is tight.
Yesterday I phoned in twice, first I was told I was going to be phoned back later at 14:00 so the person on the other end could "re-consult", this never happened so I phoned in at 15:00 and was put on hold waiting to be put in contact with a marketing manager because i was incorrectly advised, I was put on hold long enough for the call connection to cut.

Not the correct thread to post in... sorry for your loss.

This is the feedback thread, feedback is not limited to performance issues as far as I know, and I never asked a question.

My apologies, I thought you may want answers, or at least a follow up on why you were misinformed.

i don't know how this is possible (we'll I suppose I do) but I'm up to 120GB's! I downloaded like a fat kid in a cake store! I'm starting to see a bit of what I assume is "shaping" anyone else?

I would imagine the amount you downloaded bears little significance... I'm at about 200GB now, and speeds are stadig, like unusable on shaped protocols.

It's not worth more effort, I'll just pay up like the rest who were taken advantage of.

EDIT: nvm that neurotic moment, it might not have been a question but it was a request, requests dont exactly fit in alongside qeustions so I figured this would be the better thread.
