Think it is kind of pointless to have uncapped if they begin to block each site that has high download usage. First rapidshare, then hotfile, now fileserve and filesonic.

why can it now suddenly be no-go?
a week or so back my Fileserve was about the only downloading I used because most of the time I had full line speed. others like MU and HF were mostly full speed during night time.
I am more than understandable that during the day they throttle file host downloading, but at night as well??
am glad though that from round about 1am at least get the full speed again.
So then the weekend is over and all the fun starts in the week again, all sites like hotfile and fileserve and filesonic, not working again, I take it the network upgrades on mwebs side did not happen the weekend... so now guys make sure to stay up till 23h30 before being able to download anything on the above mentioned sites. just tested filesonic and no change from the last two weeks blocked......

I assume same reason we cannot connect to any of the file hosting site.
Wish Mweb guy would just tell us that we cannot use file hosting sites with uncapped. I can then rather just take my money elsewhere instead of currently wishing that they will sort the issue out!

I don't mind shaping / throttling cause that is what I signed up for (shaped uncapped).
But outright blocking like that is completely unacceptable and a breech of the contract I signed up for. This can lead to legal action and/or slanderous remarks on internet forums.

JFC answer me goddammit! What kind of restarted ISP have they become if they no longer answer to me? I have in the past praised mweb so much there is a freakin brown ring around my neck. Now that I want answers they run off like small woodland creatures.
This is completely unacceptable.
Just for interest sake. I tested this url this morning and it didn't work at first but after a couple of minutes testing again the website loaded with a message saying that they are busy moving to new servers.
It's working now.
But on a side note, Mweb's network is very up and down today again. Fileserve and all similar websites are giving very random speeds and some disconnect.

well i guess its time to start looking for another isp again. problem, been through them all. maybe i should cancel my adsl altogether.
moral of the story is that mweb showed us in the past two weeks that uncapped adsl in south africa are unsustainable as telkom and cybersmart said from the start.
mweb feel a f***, they got 140000 customers so what if a few leave/cancel....???

Are you getting any specific errors when trying to connect to STEAM? Which STEAM servers are you having trouble connecting to?
1) Steam - Updating

2)Could not connect to the Steam network
- It appears that you are not currently connected to the Internet,... blah blah...
When I connect to another ISP... no problemo...
Exact same problem and its why I've just cancelled.

Do you get a response from the site when you ping or do a tracert to it?
Its not a website, its an application. I believe it uses ports in the 27000 range to connect to its own servers, and I think at least one of the content servers is hosted by Mweb in JHB. So why we cant connect to it is beyond me.
