Hi all

Here is the latest seacom update

"20 OCTOBER 2011

SEACOM has completed the restoration process for all of our customers on alternative routes.

In the meantime, the repair vessel is now in transit to the repair ground in the Mediterranean. The vessel has received the master permit for this repair; operational permits are being finalized and should be received prior to arrival on the repair ground. At this time repair completion is expected late October, however we’d note that the usual exogenous factors associated with sub-sea repairs, including weather and currents, may further impact the repair.

SEACOM continues to monitor the situation closely and will update customers regularly on progress.

NNTP dead and mweb news server refusing connections

Hi acidrain,

Please advise if your browsing and email is working and if you able to ping the news server?

Have you perhaps tried with the IP address?

Regards,

MWEB Guy

International NNTP dead here too. Connections being actively killed by the looks of it. (connection reset by peer)

@Mweb Guy how long does a session take to automatically terminate on your side when I have switched off my router ?

Hi Anthro,

There is not a confirmed time as it all depends.

Please provide me with your MWEB account details and I'll tell you how long it took for your new connection to be established.

Regards,

MWEB Guy

Ditto.

NTTP has been completely dead (giganews). Ping/ICMP fine, tcp/119 dead. Browsing slow, but usable.... Been like that since the 16th. Magically at night from 10PM on the dot till 4AM on the dot, I manage to push about 2mbit/s on my 4mbit/s line, the rest of the time, I am lucky if I sustain 500kbit/s. Before the 16th, I've had no issues what so ever

First time I've ever felt the need to complain about my mweb uncapped since I got it (right when it was launched). At this stage, I'm seriously considering alternatives.

Tried resetting routers (even tried DIFFERENT routers), and frankly no change what so ever...

MWEB - You're broken! ([email protected])

This morning I struggled as well to connect to nzbmatrix.. I actually closed my browser and tried again then it worked.

Nzb matrix fine on my side, nntp also running full speed as of 12.00pm (surprised). Shaping definitely minimized as the week progressed, browsing is never a problem everything always loads. Everything starting to come back to normal, thanks mweb :)

Lucky you - this is the weird thing. Someone's getting full speed on NNTP, and mine is being actively throttled into the ground and sitting at 0k/sec. Doesn't really make much sense.
