I reckon we should wait for IS to give their guidelines - when do u think that will be brother man?

Guys, please join the Facebook group "Free The Web South Africa" or http://www.facebook.com/FreeTheWebSA and post your issues there as well.
That group has close on 20,000 people in it, let them see the issues you having, let your voice be heard.

Right now, it's like 50 or so people are seeing the posts and complaining, I suggest you let MORE people see the issues!

Join me!

Hi I was wondering is anyone using a remote VPN on mweb, I would like to know hows the speeds after and if it gets throttled heavily?
Im currently using a VPN, without any throttling on Iburst, and it does make browsing the internet a lot more anonymous, but I don't know how mweb will react to seeing it.

The people on the facebook group, for the most part are experiencing no problems. They're on Facebook all day ;) Also, they're not really getting the same kind of feedback that we are on the forum.

But we're warning them and everyone else who doesn't know about these forums - here we are giving PROPER DETAILED feedback...

Okay, well I won't be part of the army just yet. I'm giving them a few days (read one day) to have this issue resolved before I go spreading my inexperienced seed all over the web, and into the minds of the "unwashed masses".

BTW, i'm getting 40Kb/s on torrents consistently now, so things may have improved already?

+1 Hambone

Let's give them a bit to work it out - user patterns and all.
Speed are looking a bit better now but nowhere near what I'm paying for.

I am sure these kind of offerings will be heavily shaped during the day. Can't expect this service to perform like your typical R1999 unshaped unlimited offering.

Shaping is one thing, but my Rapidshare downloads have been at 0 Kb/s for most of the day (I have a 384 line) and right now at almost 9 PM its at 15 Kb/s. At this point I'm really regretting signing up for Mweb uncapped.

I don't mind shaping during the day, but at night I expect it to be fine.. Some sites take ages to load at night (bbc.co.uk for example)...Sometimes they don't even load (even after a router reboot)..

This is not all the time though..Not impressed with the consistency of speed at all..

I suspect it's a case of users abusing the accounts after shaping hours as it seems fine before then ..

Sigh..Guess these are just download accounts after all.

I dont seem to get much more than 150 Kbps most the time but sometimes it flys!
So far though its been alright. Today downloads were non existent though :/

Im on the 4mb line, its after 21h00 and im averaging about 160 Kbps. Not too chuffed. Was hoping for the throttling to be turned off earlier.

i'm about to sign with mweb but from what i gather ppl were happy with mweb in the beginning but now they are all grumbling ?!?
is it really that shaped after hrs ?

Not Full speed for me, but still pretty good (320 kB/s)about ! 10PM is still to late though , 7PM and I am a very happy camper!

Not actually Mweb related, but my downloads on do3 also started flying at exactly 10pm. Looks like everyone is applying the same shaping. Activating my Mweb 4mb tomorrow and I'll report back.

I think MWEB is still having capacity problems like that MWEB guy posted yesterday... especially if p2p and news downloads are 0kb... that is definitely not normal and very severe shaping to the tune of the network not having enough capacity to service all downloads / services and then cutting p2p / news completely.
The uptake must have been massive!

The MWEB guy didn't post again today about the capacity problem, or an update, at least that I have seen.

Anyway, just a hunch.

I'm really worried about the MWEB products.

The ads for the service are played constantly on 5fm and obviously everywhere else.

This service is going to suffer more than the rest.

My mind is made up. IS will have me as a client, through Afrihost, Openweb or Imagine.

Whichever allows EFT, wins.
