An ignore list is a beautiful thing. Saves blood pressure and prevents heart attacks, fencing with trolls is a waste of time, effort and our precious bandwidth :D

Yeah because you are running on limited supply:)

ROFL - so its unrealistic that I paid for internet access I don't have... and it happens quite often.

I bet you guys would also continue to pay your DSTV fee's if the satellite got hit by a meteor... after all, it its not their fault.

Go read the T&C. The relevant sections have been posted in several threads (in fact, see post #3076 above).

My M-Web is going strong - done a lot of HTTP traffic last night - torrents are limited (mostly local peers) but I'm still happy considering what I pay for.

P.S. The M-Web site is a lot more appealing to look at than axxess or some other fly-by-night ISP's site.

I rulz cause I'm with M-web and those of you who are not are sucky and have too much time to doctor your speedtest results in MSpaint

Some how I don't think the T&C overrides my rights... yes, I'm sure its fine for brief periods, but not over extended periods - and I'm pretty sure the new consumer protection act would also agree.

And if you go read your DSTV T&C, you'll probably see that they're also not responsible for continued reception on your end - so let the meteorites come.

While i agree the axxess site is crap. Mweb is no where near good either. And i dont have time to doctor anything so try again. Sour grapes much?:)

I feel like the left-out kid on the school ground. All my friends are playing World of Warcraft with no problems, and I'm the only MWEB using sod that can't connect to it at all.

This blows... :(

Solution is simple - sign up with one of your friends ISP's and cancel Mweb. Also, stop whinging.

xrapidx - exactly.... All this moving from one ISP to another is costing me a fortune.

I'm not even going to bother feeding the trolls. I don't have the energy or the inclination.

Morning fanboi's!

I see we have reached a state where we thank a company for providing a service that we actually pay for. Maybe I should start thanking Vodacom for the fact I can make phone calls even though I pay them for it.

PS internet is dog slow, not all web pages are loading etc

Good idea. It's important to be grateful I think. Count your blessings. Each and every day on which we have electricity, water, cell 'phone coverage and Internet access is a good day, right? :)

There is a difference between being grateful that one can afford to support companies who offer us these services. What I am not grateful for is companies who are taking our hard earned cash and not providing a service. Would MWEB accept my payments to them as best effort? Would they say thank you Lino we understand you will get paid late, no problem at all. HELL NO! They would start demanding my payment!

My point business is there to make money nothing else.

In Europe, broadband internet access is becoming a right - in South Africa we should be grateful for having the right to pay for internet access, even when it doesn't actually work.

Errm....my bad. Forgot about the 30 days notice! :(

Ok....it blows! :)
Fairly sure you can get out of the 30 days if you cancel now. Hell, you may even get them to reverse your last payment. But where will you go? Seacom is down for all the ISPs. Everyone is struggling to keep their Seacom clients a flout. You obviously subscribe to MWEB because of the cost of their uncapped accounts. Noone else matches them on quality of service or price AND noone has an alternative to Seacom uncapped within x2 of th price. So... where will you go?

Me, I accept the problem is out of Mweb's (and Afrihost and Axxess and whomever else uses Seacom) control. I appreciate that they are making an effort HOWEVER I am realistic that at the price I pay (for over 250GB worth of bandwidth usage a month) there MUST be risk. To expect a perfectly redundant service in the backdrop of South African internet to date is simply unrealistic. So instead of pissing little puddles, I'm using prepaid Webafrica until the cable problem is fixed. Chances are Mweb (and ALL the other ISPs affected by the cable problem) will negotiate capacity with ESSAY. Will it be free? Probably not. Will that be the next point everyone whines about? Probably.

These circular discussions around SEACOM outages all over these forums are pointless in my opinion. They achieve nothing and cover the same ground again and again and again and again. This is all covered by the T&C as we all know. When EASSy is lit, this will all change. Enjoy discussing the issue at length for as long as you like. Youl'll only frustrate yourself because there is nothing you can actually do about. I'm done on this issue. Cheers :)
