Ok Kosmik that sounds like something we should look at. I have Bad Company 2 installed here - I will run some tests myself and see if we can replicate your experience and get to grips with what's causing it. Can you inbox me your contact details and some idea of your availability in case I need to get you to assist with some testing?

Thanks
MWEB Operations(Tech Manager)

I can confirm this is the case. The shaping mweb does on the network during office hours, can be so bad that getting the BC2 server list for africa can time out after 30 odd seconds, forcing me to have to login to the EA BC2 server again and try get the server browser list again. The shaping during office hours during heavy network load can also force you to be kicked from BC2 and forced to login with EA again, when BC2 periodically sends some packets to the master EA servers and this times out due to mweb shaping. I don't mind struggling to get the server list, but being disconnected mid game was very frustrating.

To get around this, I have starting using a webafrica prepaid account as a secondary internet connection run concurrent to my mweb connection. The webafrica prepaid account is only used to route packets on my network heading the the EA master subnet overseas (rest of the packets go through mweb) and now the server browser list responds quickly during the day during office hours and no more random disconnects due to "lost connection to EA".

Very rarely, the shaping due to network load on mweb can be so bad, that I get a high ping (300 to 600 according to BC2) when in game during office hours, to the local saix game servers, which makes playing BC2 under these conditions an unpleasant experience. To solve this I now activate a static route on my Mikrotik RB750G to use a prepaid local only webafrica account as the pppoe connection to use for packets heading to the saix games servers subnet and then restart BC2. Then my ping drops back to the usual level of around 100 as reported by BC2.

Clearly, these are mweb network issues, as all it takes is for me to route the game data packets through another isp, without dropping my mweb connection, to solve the disconnects and heavy lag in game. I am using mweb 4mb uncapped on a 4mb line.

Because behinid this thin veil of consumer rights who.is.michael has been 'fighting' for. He's actually just trying to get people to join his mickey mouse ISP :P

LOL, not so mickey mouse - unless you consider Cybersmart as mm ;-) / your choice if you want to suffer constant drama...

My involvement stretches as far as being a subscriber...

Interesting, I find it odd that Laurie doesn't even offer those services himself.

Hi IRG,

You have 2 accounts, please pm which account you are having problems with and I'll look into it for you

Well you have been witnessing the continual MWEB drama - can hardly blame Laurie?

Huh? I'm not blaming him at all, TRLTech's prices aren't bad I just wonder why Cybersmart don't offer them themselves.
I was a happy Cybersmart customer until Mweb came along with a better and cheaper offer. And in terms of dramas, the only issue I've experienced so far was when that ship dropped it's anchor on the cable.

Misunderstood: blaming L as - not wanting a repeat similar to the MWEB disaster; you might not but many others do - post 3773?

As a matter of interest can you do a similar trace as above in 01-09-2010 09:18 AM #3769

Lol, disaster is a bit sensational don't you think? It's not really good business ethic to run down your competitor on the merit of a couple of unhappy users.

I'll do the trace when I get home.

Sensational, what you on about - check the forum? As for competitor - maybe you have not read / comprehended post #3764 - I am a subscriber only - had too many and constant issues with MWEB, that is why I switched and as you can see from the trace the connectivity is issue free...

Sorry you updated your post and it disapeared onto the previous page.

WRT to the connectivity trace, I assume you use that destination IP quite a bit?

I've been having problems for the past week or so, my connection does not disconnect but the internet just freezes for about a minute before it starts working again and happens every 20 minutes or so.
Doesn't happen on my prepaid account, so its not my pc or the line. Its definitely an mweb problem.
