Good afternoon everyone

I understand that the shaping on peer to peer is causing you some frustration right now, but we need to try and ensure that other services have a smooth experience while we finalize the network upgrades, which as stated will be done by the first week of October.

Please understand that as always we are giving as much as we are able to to peer to peer without impacting on the overall performance.

Thanks
Will

Not only P2P - NNTP is almost non existent as well.

72.674GB

And news servers don't respond at all all of a sudden. "Connection closed gracefully" nonsense.

57.14Gb

Torrent were EXCELLENT all night and this morning. Seems to have slowed down a little bit now, but still acceptable. Just hoping it stays like this.

EDIT: I think I jinxed myself...

*bangs head on desk*

Ok cool, and how are you guys shaped? Like with news-servers?

I've done 41 gigs on OpenWeb this month and IS shaped me so much that my upload was even faster than my download speed, which was sitting at about 7 KB/s.

mweboperations & Will@MWEB - are news-servers shaped during the day every day or only once someone reaches a certain usage? What speeds could I expect on nzb's during the day and at night?

Thanks...

Okay. I understand there are upgrades and whatnot.

Should it be possible to download a five meg file from Hotfile.com? It just hangs and I am now starting to get mildly frustrated. It's only ****ing five megs for god's sake.

For the past 3-4 days I've been getting a max of 50Kbs from news servers - day or night, doesnt make a difference.

Hi d7e7r7

News is given the same priority as Peer to Peer for shaping purposes, it's difficult for me to give you any predictions on speed as the shaping is dynamic dependent on the network load and time of day.

On a 384 line?? :wtf:

So its dependent on network load rather than how much a user has downloaded over a certain period of time, like it is with IS (80%, 20%)

Correct. We don't apply any throttling to individual users. Shaping is employed to ensure that high priority services are not impacted by Peer to Peer traffic.

I am on a 512 line and I have been getting between 3 and 5kBps all weekend-- night and day-- occasionally it will peak at about 8, but it hasnt been over 10 for the entire long weekend. And they wonder why people are getting p****d about things. It is getting worse all the time. The techie guys are really decent, but I think it is thepolicy that is not quite right -- I dont think I have even downloaded 30Gigs this month
Wow, wonder what'd I'd expect on a 384 line then

I understand the need to shape during the upgrade but i use the local mweb server so no peering between isp's and no int. so why so slow?

Ssssooooo ssssllllooooooowwwwwwwwww.................

I think an owl could swim through custard faster :(

<waits for end of 1st week in October>

Why then is my friend down the road getting 420kb/s and I'm getting maximum 50kb/s?
This has only been like this the last 2 days or so.
