I think this shaping policy has really gotten out of hand now......

Being shaped on the weekend in the beginning of the month like I've abused the system = Pathetic.

Im hopping mad. 15-30kb for a 4mb line from Hotfile. - Yeah, I know its shaped but this is riduculous for a weekend. Been like this for the past week.
And no communication regarding the upgrades - do it better MWEB!

I'm so pleased that I gave MWeb notice at the end of last month. Been trying to download a well seeded torrent all day at the blistering speed of 0.2kb/s - eta is 1yr2months! I know it's only a 384 line but if I use my business account on the same router it'll come through at 32kb/s. No explanation from MWeb other than wait until the end of the first week of October..... hmmmm we'll see hey?

I pretty much havnt bothered with any p2p at all for a few days now. Just been running ddl for some things (about 5% of what I want to get). At least ddl still seems to work fine... Just hope I havnt jinxed myself now...

bloody fark - managed to convince so many of my friends to move to mweb and now they go and do this. I feel so bad.

12-37kb on a 4 mb line = not cool!

Hopefully they resolve the upgrade mess asap.

Ye, mine's still sitting at that speed for Hotfile. Occasionally it'll revert completely to 100-200Kb for one file. Other one click sites are either the same or 100-300Kb.. their shaping's gone a bit off.

This is NUTS!!!! Busy downloading a 50MB file on my 4 mb line.....Time left: 30 Mins. This account has been up and down the whole weekend. I've barely been able to RDC into work...so much so that I rather drove to the office to do what I had to do!

My damn iPhone appstore downloads keep timing out as well when using my Mweb account. Bluddy hell, you'd think a company, who relies on people like you and me for bread and butter, would at least send me a damn email to say "listen our systems are poked and we're sorry...estimated time to fix = yesterday"......but no, not a word! You're quick to email me my monthly invoice, how about being just as quick to send us a notification saying your upgrade "which didn't affect customers negatively" was a balls-up!

I wonder how many people have quit MWeb because of the shockingly slow download speeds over the past few weeks? MWeb, let me say that you've done yourselves no favours by keeping quiet about this while these forums fill up with complaints from your unhappy subscribers. Shocking service!

The problem is, they can get away with it. People bitch and moan on forums, but still pay them every month for their disservice. Cancel your account, and try somewhere else - otherwise they have no incentive to care. We've been hearing the "upgrades are coming" story now since the FIFA world cup, and then Telkom was blamed for their network freeze. It was a great idea, but they have had bad planning on this since the massive uptake.

This is my 4th month with MWEB and will probably be my last. The first 3 months went off very well but I've reached the point of total humour failure. Everything is gone to pot - even standard mom and pop surfing is frustrating. Can't even watch a youtube video without re-buffering at least 10 times on a 4MB (2MB true) line. I have apologised to the mates that I convinced to move to Mweb and have warned off anyone else who I had sold to. The funny thing is that, like most others, I've almost reached the point of having downloaded everything I could possibly think of and would be kicking back, relaxing and just savouring having uncapped. Now some other SP gets to benefit because Mweb couldn't keep its promises. I'm all for shaping and whilst 0 may be a shape to Mweb it doesn't work for me, nor apparently many others here. You've fallen into the same rut that others with shoddy service have. Trying to keep your Customers in the dark is and never will be a good idea. Please don't claim to have communicated to your users about this royal stuff up because I've yet to come across a single person who was proactively informed that the upgrade would not negatively impact them.

To all those considering Mweb at the present moment - be warned that they have no concept of after-hours and will hammer you irrespective.

Really getting tired of MWEB now. These speeds are terrible, I realize upgrades are going on but if my speeds arent better by after next weekend then i'm gone

Incredibly sucky internet of late. I've tried rebooting router, changing routers, getting Telkom to check my line - the only thing that makes a difference is changing accounts. I was kinda hoping this would be resolved with the "big move" that was supposed to happen. I'm more than a little sad now.

It's been a good ride Mweb but unless you can give an actual ETA for things not sucking (and unless that ETA beats Friday) I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Sorry but thems the breaks.

It's been a long time since I've had to measure download speed in bytes/s.

What are the official times for shaping to start/stop with Mweb uncapped accounts?
I am on Mweb 4meg uncapped and the whole weekend i barely managed 1 meg speeds to file hosts. Switch to my Afrihost 1gig account and i get full speed.

It isn't fun paying full price for something your get 1/4 of the expected speed from.

Absolutely no news groups for the last day & half for me now...dunno if I should try changing back to @dslmweb, or if it's just one of things that will rectify itself in time...torrents have slowed to crawl again aswell; 12:30 & running at ~3k -utterly useless...

I'm signed onto the @dslmweb one and am having little issue connecting.
Speeds on the other hand.........

torrents = no go. Under 5kb. Was working fine yesterday on & off.

Here's a bit of an erratic hourly list of total downloaded

Code:
2010/10/04 12:00 AM 87.0 MB 8.2 MB 95.3 MB 1 hr
2010/10/04 01:00 AM 74.0 MB 7.0 MB 80.9 MB 1 hr
2010/10/04 02:00 AM 95.8 MB 4.7 MB 100.4 MB 1 hr
2010/10/04 03:00 AM 151.8 MB 6.1 MB 157.9 MB 1 hr
2010/10/04 04:00 AM 127.2 MB 8.5 MB 135.8 MB 1 hr
2010/10/04 05:00 AM 82.6 MB 8.5 MB 91.1 MB 1 hr

As you can see, the best hour was 157.9mb
