since mweb did some tweaking to their systems over the week end my uncapped (torrents) is working 45% faster since sunday. :) Nice!

If you ask nicely he might just give you a copy on a floppy.

Anyway, It seems that my connection is behaving a lot better today. Im getting up to about 15 kb/s during the day. (Yes I know im being bad by letting my torrent run throughout the day but im doing it so that I can track my dl speeds, thus all in the name of science :D )

I think everyone is doing that...I decide to be a good boy and shut down everything this morning.

I do that too.

.........but I'd like to leave my pc on and remote from work, anyone know how to do that?

Setup port natting / forwarding on your DSL modem to your download machine.
Create a dyndns account.
If your DSL modem does not have an dyndns client, get and install a dyndns client on your PC.

And thats that.

Lol I know next to nothing about routers ( at least I admit it :D ) and am willing to learn.

Do you know where I can do some research on the steps you mentioned? Maybe a step by step? ( google is a bit too broad )

Is it just me or is MWEB flying today? Local pages seem to take a while to resolve but international is flying for me!!!

Did some quick maths this morning to calculate whether my 4mb MWEB uncapped account is worthwhile.
-Since signing up on 17 September i have done 232GB in 3 weeks so extroplating that to 4 weeks would work out to +-300mb a month. (Note that this is not downloading 24/7, this is just downloading a couple HD series from usenet and some fairly heavy youtube usage).
-So my cost per gb for a months usage will be +-R1.80 a GB (R539/300).
-If i want to include line rentals etc my cost is only pushed up to roughly R3.33 a GB (+-R1000/300).

So in short so far I'm prettu happy with the performance. And at that price per GB can't moan about P2P getting shaped during peak hours....

Sigh... wonder when it will be fixed in my area. Still not even getting a connection at times and averaging 20kbps... sucks big time.

hmmm recreated the ports sitting on 10mb but still cap out @ 1629 kbps

On Afrihost and Mweb accounts :(

wtfff i thought this line speed *** was fixed. its slower than it was on sat!

We are monitoring the filesharing services as some people's connection have improved and others not
