Hi guys, we are investigating the possible DNS issue and will feedback shortly.

@Juggy thank you, had a fright this morning when I couldn't connect to my server at work. Then couldn't do anything on the net, but with surfing to this thread using MTN, I saw your answer! Thank you so much!

@MWEB :-(

My mweb has been dead since last night around 10pm. Thanks Juggy am going to try that now.

ADSL customers will experience difficulty accesing web pages and email, our technicians are attending.

I suggest you use Google's public DNS servers, they never die, ever.

8.8.8.8
and
8.8.4.4

Problem solved :) I haven't had a moment's downtime from those.

( Plus, they're easy to remember ^^ )

hmm strange, I am not experiencing any problems, my DNS setting are set to configure automatically and my NNTP has been flying the whole night.

This is getting a bit old now. I am averaging 500B/s on a torrent, even at 1am in the morning . I actually started multiplying all the numbers I see by 8 just to get the numbers bigger. 4000 bits per second just sounds a lot better than 500 bytes per second. :(

Are we being shaped heavily? Browsing is also sluggish!

We have seen a LOT of issues lately from MWEB, anyone counting? I am at the point now where I am considering to vote with my feet and move to another ISP. @MWEB, do you think it is fair that that we are paying for a service that you can not provide?

I think MWEB should upgrade our accounts to unshaped for a month to make up for the month we have lost (but then we would like at least a few days without issues).

/rant

:EDIT: My speeds did increase slightly this morning, running at +/-15kB/s now

Mmm ... torrents aren't quite snappy, but acceptable today. Running between 180 kB/s and 210 kB/s for me.

Update on the "possible" DNS "issue"? Changing DNS settings on the router solves the problem, so it's clearly a DNS issue... Are the thousands of "mom and pop" MWeb clients just waiting patiently until the "internet comes back on"?

"Shibboleet!"

torrents running at 400kbs, http (filehosts) were running at 400kbs for the entire day yesterday aswell :D

I think the mweb engineers need to go on a networking 101 course:

1. We will have 2 DNS servers in 2 different locations for redundancy.
2. We will not apply the same shaping rules to WoW as we do to P2P..
3. etc.

Is there any ISP (preferably unshaped) that just works in SA? Every month I will give you money in exchange for a service, I promise.

I'm done with M-WEBless.
