I suggest you use Google's public DNS servers, they never die, ever.

8.8.4.4

Problem solved I haven't had a moment's downtime from those.

( Plus, they're easy to remember ^^ )

This is getting a bit old now. I am averaging 500B/s on a torrent, even at 1am in the morning . I actually started multiplying all the numbers I see by 8 just to get the numbers bigger. 4000 bits per second just sounds a lot better than 500 bytes per second.

Are we being shaped heavily? Browsing is also sluggish!

We have seen a LOT of issues lately from MWEB, anyone counting? I am at the point now where I am considering to vote with my feet and move to another ISP. @MWEB, do you think it is fair that that we are paying for a service that you can not provide?

I think MWEB should upgrade our accounts to unshaped for a month to make up for the month we have lost (but then we would like at least a few days without issues).

It's called a POTS filter, you can get it at any Telkom shop. Simply plug it in between your phone and the wall socket.

Update on the "possible" DNS "issue"? Changing DNS settings on the router solves the problem, so it's clearly a DNS issue... Are the thousands of "mom and pop" MWeb clients just waiting patiently until the "internet comes back on"?

I think the mweb engineers need to go on a networking 101 course:

1. We will have 2 DNS servers in 2 different locations for redundancy.
2. We will not apply the same shaping rules to WoW as we do to P2P..
3. etc.
