One thing I have noticed, and I think someone else is having the same problem - I can't download from Hotfile.com. It just keeps timing out.

That would be me. I had the problem early in the week, got a scheduled call on Friday but I told the guy I got the file from elsewhere in the interim. As I said to him, when I need to download something, I need it then, not three/four days later.

I had the same problem with megaupload a while back, using JDownloader (awesome scheduler/dl manager for filehosting sites) sometimes gets around it though. Hotfile is still working for me though, pretty much always runs at around 120Kb.

Here is what is driving me mad. I CAN"T STREAM A FRIKKEN VIDEO ON MSNBC ON A SATURDAY NIGHT AT 10:17PM ON A 4MEG LINE AND MWEB WANTS TO SAY THERE IS NOTHING WRONG! This is getting beyond a joke I can't only download with this account I need to be able to stream content as well.

I get problems with YouTube as well, it starts at full line, drops to 100k, then 0k, up to 50k, bounces there a bit and as it gets later in the evening it will eventually die at that 50k jumping part making a refresh necessary.... Anything like that happening? since it gets worse late at night I think it has something to do with shaping but MWeb "dont know whats wrong" You know I really like them but November has been shocking and I just dont have the patience to sit around and wait for it to become a big enough of a problem for them to put it on their priority list...

Also I dont even know what a graph of full line speed looks like any more as on my beautiful 4MB I only get 100K avg, when I tried my friends OpenWeb Gold for the night I almost died at how cool a solid 420K download looked! Goodbye Mweb and thanks for all the very slow fish!

This is ridiculous, even trying to download an HTTP file is at 80KB/S, on a 4MB line. This account is far too erratic

Also can't connect to news at all. None of the addresses work. Connection has been coming and going for the last month or two, very random.

Caching server is caching broken downloads !! I have 6 files so far from FileSonic and all of them fail on the same spot, everything, no matter what browser I try them in.

Anyone else that experience this caching of broken downloads?

Please fix Mweb - this is not acceptable.

I did have a similar problem with some sites. They said basically that that's how their proxy server works, end of story pretty much. The one guy offered to download and e-mail me the file I happened to be complaining about at the time, which was very nice and all but somewhat besides the point. :p

I'd like to see them email me six 700MB files... This is totally unacceptable, what kind of pissant caching servers are they running when it does not check the HTTP 200 Content-Length and ensure the copy that cache actually matches the size it should be!!!

I guess being Mweb they are not gonna do anything about - so how long before they drop the file from the cache so that I can try again?

Never - if you see what I manage with my Mweb connection you'd be a fanboi too. But that does not mean it is without problems. The throttle during office hours is a bit too low and while caching is an excellent idea it should only cache stuff when its 100% sure its... welll.... 100% :D

Its like my N8 - the best you can get, but there is always room for improvement. Hey, now that I think of it, I'm like that too ;)

Peak MWeb downloading time, my toorent (139 seeds, 64 peers) sitting @ 0.4kB/s. News servers - no connection.

I am on 384, badly seeded torrent currently going at around 10 kB/s. Not good, but at least not 0.4 kB/s.

*edit*

Only connected to 2/20 seeds at the moment, I've just noticed.

Mweb is in the middle of the upgrades to the Cape Town network. -- traffic is being routed to joburg, should last ~3 hours. Hopefully this means even FASTER speeds for us! :D

Like the last time?

My uploads are faster than my downloads. Upload - 0.9kB/s.
