MWEB has been fantastic this weekend, especially in the evenings. Going to test streaming again, last night it was perfect

Don't have another account to test , assumption is the fother of all muckups :P

tried their [email protected] email bounced back. Will phone them tomorrow to figure this out don't have the time or strength or patience to do it now (besides a nice Rib-Eyed is waiting to be scorched...:) )

Thx for suggestions.

Hows your torrent speeds on the fantastic mweb? If yours is diff than my 25kB/s at 12am Sunday morning what could be wrong? was was getting full line speed on same torrent using a diff ISP account so I know it wasn't from a lack of seeders.

PS: 4mb line

My badly seeded torrent is doing 70kB/s now, was 255kB/s @12am

My internet has been off the whole day today and a bit yesterday.turns out the problem was with telkom.they had to do port creation or something like that.:D

Well at least you had transfer... for me

Telkom did a telkom and my line lost sync... my line resynced... and mweb reconnected but that extremely buggy program called Grabit did not timeout and reconnect like its suppose to.... so nothing downloaded

and all this happened just after I went to bed.

grrr

My 4Mb line has come to the point of complete non usability , this has been going on for a while now.

Think it's time to move to another SP....

Most likely it's your line. Not Mweb. Log a call with Telkom.

In light of all the complaints the last couple of weeks I decided to post my uncapped experience so far. I have done 41.5GB in the past six days so for what I'm getting I can't complain. If I do some quick calculations based on this usage I should be able to do about 250GB of uninterrupted downloading. Last month I did 118GB because I ran out of things to download. This without having to bypass any shaping. So thank you mweb for saving me lots of cash on bandwidth.

Wow those are impressive figures, which I could get even close to that. Only managed about 5GB over the past 6 days.

MWEB is putting customers into different groups. Also there are quite different experiences between people in Cape Town and other provinces.

So I'm wanting to get back with Mweb at the moment. I have a full 10 MB line and would like to know if it's worth getting the 4Mb speed option (The R500 one). What are the current speeds I can expect? When I left them 4 months ago I was getting about 50-60Kps on torrents during the day shooting up to 150-200Kbs at night and close to full speed after 12. Latency in WOW was fine too (about 350-400ms).

Is the experience still the same? BTW I'm based in Table View, Cape Town.

I think overall your experience might be a bit worse, or better. There is no constant with these accounts, i.e. you cannot count on anything other than decent HTTP browsing, some streaming (most of the time) and the odd HTTP download. The rest is a coin toss. Personally my experience has been getting worse month by month on a 512 account. The "after 12" has moved up to "after 1am" and I rarely see full 512kbps speed even then, close but not quite full.

That said, many others are experiencing great speed almost 24/7 on different packages, regardless whether they doing HTTP, Torrents, or NNTP. It really is a coin toss, and I don't think anyone can give you a true answer.

My 348k account Durban has been doin 2 gigs from 12am to 12pm for the past two weeks onMweb News server

lol see what I mean, I barely get 1gig from 1am to 6am on my 512 account, using MWEB's server and subscribed server. If I leave it on 24/7 it makes no difference, during the day 95% of the time it trickles between 0kBps - 2kBps. Weekends I get 10kBps from 8am to 1am, if I'm lucky, and from 1am to 8am I get about 50kBps.
