Mweb Durban to Durban latency = 458ms

Axxess Durban to Durban latency = 95ms

There is definately a story here as I have used the Axxess account on my line, no one elses, have tried rebooting the router, disconnecting, reconnecting with no avail.

It's been odd for a few days now....

If I want to cancel do I just mail [email protected] or is there a form somewhere?

@ Mweb - Do you know what's going on here?

Actually, not. After mweb's business billing department mailed me the cancellation form, they have yet to reply to my queries regarding the cancellation as I pay everything a year in advance.
I don't know if that is the general response to queries ie sending cancellation forms for connectivity, hosting, etc. issues.
It's as if: I CAN'T HELP YOU, GO AWAY. CANCEL AND BE DONE.
Atleast, I got some response from mweb on this forum - let's see what happens.

ps: I am logged on with a Telkom account at the moment as my browsing is shaped as too is everthing else except that d/l are chugging along at 3 to 6kb/s

I have done so, pity it will only be effective end of Jan....if it comes right & stays right I may just stay put, who knows...

No reason why they can't do a prorata cancellation....

Have switched back to Mweb account with the same results :(

Odd that they don't reply as it may be possible for someone to change their mind regarding the cancellation based on service.

is this good or bad

It is now 15:25. I am downloading a software update over HTTP (an update for my iPhone 4) and it is downloading at around 40KB/s on a 4 MEG line. Pathetic!!!! I may as well download on a P2P network!

Maybe the source site limits the speed?

I'm not sure Apple would limit download speeds on its updates... I've downloaded stuff from there before much more quickly.

Just got another reply from [email protected] totally ignoring my queries (some relating to cancellation) but explaining in detail what is required to cancel my account. Must have been a general email that is copied and pasted irrespective of query.

Customer Service and others at mweb, including Mweb operations on this forum have still not responded so maybe yes, the cancellation department is the most effecient at mweb.

On the plus side: don't know if mweb operations on this fourm did something but browsing is much improved and acceptible.
As long as the wife and I can browse on the net during the day; kids can play online in the evening and we can d/l at night, we're happy.

Waiting.....

has anyone been getting bad speeds on fileserve for the last few days? speeds average at 24kbs at all times of the day/night

I've just received the automated response but nothing else :(

I'm probably going to cancel this, but I think they should still give a hoot....
