now i've been having some horrible issues since the weekend, not sure if its mweb or telkom...
Every so often i lose all connectivity... I cant access any site, nor ping nor tracert BUT my line doesnt lose sync nor does my adsl connection drop. If i do a soft reset of my router (a billion 400G - takes around 2mins), I have full connectivity again.
now i'm not really keen on spending r70 to buy a 1 gig account just to find out its my line or router. I'm a little suspect about the router since its automagically restarted itself a few times this weekend.
any ideas?
Hi Coldon
I checked your line and your attenuation is a bit high; please have Telkom re-create your port. Please provide me the relevant feedback.
Field Result Description
ATUC Status No Defect There no defects on the line.
ATUC Current Rate 4064 kbps The current downstream speed established between the DSLAM and customer’s modem, e.g. 4096k, 512k or 384k.
ATUC SNR 12 dB The signal level compared to the noise level. A value above 6 dB indicates sufficient signal strength. The higher the signal value, the better. Does the customer have an electric fence? This could cause an increased in noise levels resulting in a reduction of this value.
ATUC Attenuation 28 dB Attenuation refers to resistance. If this value is high, then the signal quality is low, and vice versa. Is the customer far away from the exchange? Long copper lines could be the cause of attenuation. A value above 55 dB is of concern (bad).
ATUC Max Rate 4096 kbps The max downstream speed governed by the DSLAM at which it communicates to customer's router.
ATUC Min Rate 640 kbps The min downstream speed governed by the DSLAM at which it communicates to customer's router.
ATUC Alarm State No Alarm Is displayed if any faults are found on the DSLAM port.
ATUR Status No Defect There no defects on the line.
ATUR Current Rate 512 kbps The speed at which Router communicates to remote DSLAM, e.g. 384k, 128k.
ATUR SNR 12 dB The signal level compared to the noise level. A value above 6 dB indicates sufficient signal strength. The higher the signal value, the better. Does the customer have an electric fence? This could cause an increased in noise levels resulting in a reduction of this value.
ATUR Attenuation 54 dB Attenuation refers to resistance. If this value is high, then signal quality is low, and vice versa. Is the customer far away from the exchange? Long copper lines could be the cause of attenuation. A value above 55 dB is of concern (bad).
ATUR Max Rate 512 kbps The max upstream speed governed by the DSLAM at which it communicates to customer's router.
ATUR Min Rate 256 kbps The min upstream speed governed by the DSLAM at which it communicates to customer's router.
