Well, seems all this time the problem was with telkom.called mweb first at 4PM and spoke to Julian,he tested my account and confirmed thats it's a 4meg mweb account and that there is no problem with my account.so of i go and phone telkom, they test my line and they state that it's a 38()kbps line (can't remember the last number) but it states on my telkom account that i have a 4mbps line so they make up some excuse that mweb is slowing down my line through their service so of i go again to phone mweb, first thing i did was give the guy the error message my router threw the other day (xDSL no synchronized) and he told me to phone telkom and ask for a port recreate,so i phoned telkom (it was 5:23PM now) and waited for someone to pick up,i held until 6PM where i got the message that the office is closed after 6PM and that i should try again tomorrow.

I was so close.

*tin foil hat on*

You have to wonder if Telkom are deliberately trying to sabotage Mweb clients for the ISP not paying for LLC.

Damn man, without MWEB, even with it's ups and downs, i would never have had such a wonderful internet experience. I get home, and all the downloads are done!! Love it.

don't mess up MWEB :D

Is there anything wrong with mweb tonight?

Hi guys, I haven't exactly been keeping up with the latest issues on MWEB so sorry if this is a silly question. Is it just me or are the news servers really dead right now? I haven't been able to connect to any of MWEB's news servers...cannot get a connection to jhb's or cpt's news. And its not just now at the end of the month...been going on for a while now

You can only connect to news.mweb.co.za now. Mweb will route you to the closest one automatically.

I had the same problem, either it was dead or it crawled at 3kb/s. So thought fsck it and went back to newsdemon. Probably find because the service is free, they don't care for upgrading it even though they making serious dollar off us.

Bite the bullet and pay the $9.99/mnth, so much more worth it than wondering if mweb news is on/off all the time.

YES my internet is fixed once again. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

For those only getting 1-5KBps when connecting to news.mweb.co.za.
Try using 196.28.78.229 as the connecting server instead or changing your DNS to 196.28.80.139/140 or a combination of the two, was the magic recipe for me, now my connection is a stable-ish 30KBps.

WTF is up with MWEB's news server that these workarounds are needed?

I would but like so many others I don't have the extra money to spend, my little 384 shaped uncapped account is THE most I can do as it is.
