MWEB Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

MWeb have been shocking lately. I keep having a problem with streaming from Supersport, works fine with other ISP's.

Selected replies, you know what I am actually glad I cancelled. As my account was useless last night, when you can't open www.google and www.myadsl.co.za there is a problem. I don't know why I am paying for February as I can't use it.

MOrning Linoman;

There were outages on our network yesterday, have you tried powering down your router for at least 3min. Please also advise if your problem still persists this morning.

Hi, still having following problems :
1. News24 times out constantly.
2. DNS often refuses to refresh and thus unable to access MWEB Home page.
3. Mweb mailbox frequently displays page error and does not allow me to read mail. Happens probably 2 out of 5 times.

I have rebooted router, changed lan cables, changed fro wireless to wire and still have these problems. Speed tests indicate that speed are OK except that the test places me in Johannesburg instead of Cape Town.

Whatsup with the horrible download speeds from iTunes? I can stream youtube videos at 200kB/s but this 7mB mp3 is taking 40 minutes to download. Does iTunes get shaped?
 
Hi, i just joined Mweb on Saturday and iv got the 4mb uncapped account. My experiences are overall good so far but im having alot of trouble connecting to news.mweb.co.za and if i do connect i get speeds like 70kbps. I also tried using my astraweb account and seem to get similar speeds albeit alittle faster. however on my telkom or afrihost accounts i get full 440kbps when using astraweb.

Also iv been testing my speed with speedtest.net and i get normal 3.5mbps downrate and 0.3mbps uprate,however my Ping is terribly high,have done this test 3x per day every day since Sat and not once has my Ping been below 300ms..

Please could you help me as to why im experiencing this as i have a friend that also has the 4mb uncapped account and connects to news.mweb properly and gets full line speed on cached items.. and why is the ping so high?

Just for interest sake, and for those that might be wondering about the ruggedness of the MWEB unshaped accounts, I would just like to mention that during all these network problems my unshaped account has been running full blast (using NNTP). It seems to me if you want anything close to uninterrupted, full speed, 24/7 internet then unshaped is the way to go. Granted it gets quite costly, which is why I only have a 384 account, but at least it works when you want it, regardless of what you use it for. It simply works.

Siri. The reason why news server speeds are so bad.. its called shaping and mweb love it..

I have found only users that connect to the jhb news server get full speed on cached items... Sadly you cant choose where you are routed too... and you will be routed to the nearest server to you. Us poor cpt users dont get access to the server with the cached items. If you not in cpt... then its properly just shaping...

same problem...

cannot access anything international, just get blank pages... if I dont get a proper response to this today, i'm cancelling. I've put up with this terrible service for the last month hoping things would improve... Every time I have a problem being told it is my "line" and that my attenuation is too high... So why the hell does every other account I try work perfectly?!
