@MWEB_OPS

It's 22:43 and according to iftop on my wireless interface i'm bouncing between 20KB -> 50KB while attempting to stream a video off gametrailers.com, isnt the shaping supposed to be relaxed at this point or is mweb squeezing every drop as much as possible before upgrading your international capacity? I can understand the shaping during your peak traffic times, but c'mon, 20KB on a 4MB account just aint cricket... Feb 0[1,2] the service was great ....

Hi mccrack

Please PM me your account details as well as a traceroute to gametrailers.com in order for me to investigate why you are getting those speeds on a 4MB account. Is this the only site you are experiencing slow speeds with or are there others as well?

Regards,
MWEB Ops

An unshaped account shouldn't be shaped on any protocol/port? If they still shape news servers and torrents on those accounts that would suck?

Hi Linoman

Thank you for the feedback, I will investigate why you are having slow browsing speeds and will provide you feedback shortly.

Regards,
MWEB Ops

Thank you

Please check your PM

Hi Nerhzelok

Is this the only connectivity issue you are experiencing or is it the same with browsing and email? I do have your detail on my side, I will investigate this further for you.

Everything else seems to be fine. Watched a quick youtube vid, downloaded at full speed, HTTP is also going at full speed. Stopped everything and continuing Steam download and it's going at 130KB/s right now, peak download of 280. I downloaded Team Fortress 2 a few weeks ago and it went at full 4Mbits speed. Hmmm o.o

Edit: Also, changing "download region" settings doesn't seem to help. (if that would do anything, I'm not sure)

Thanks Mr. M, speeds still aren't at full speed but certainly have improved, getting between 200-340 mostly goes at around 280. ^_^

Anyone in Cape Town been experiencing a slowdown? I'm getting half speed on my 384k line max, and it seems to vary from there downwards. Not torrenting or anything, just surfing really, but I just tried downloading a small file via HTTP and it won't go over 15 kb/s. Normally I'd get up to 40, but most of all it just seems very slow to respond.

Is there something wrong on Mweb network side today? Getting horrible speed, struggling to do the most basic of tasks here...
:(
Code:
ntop-4.0.3-1-x86_64 2.9M 18.1K/s 00:17:04 [#######----------------------------------------------------] 13%
18 K/s on a 4 meg line is very, very sad.... I'm a sad panda today...

Same here, getting between 10 - 20K/s also on 4 meg. Pages are opening very slowly.

Hi MyWorld and Rohan; please PM me your mweb email addresses and I will have a look at this for you. We have no reported outages, except for the following two area's; 011 - 794 and 039 - 314.

Can't ping that one either, also can't traceroute to it, but if I traceroute to news.mweb.co.za I go to a different IP. Probably due to their loadbalancing. I think the IP above might be their news server in Jhb?

Try using 196.28.78.229 as your news server and see if it works.

That unfortunately didn't work for me :( It is down for me tonight as well. Mweb Ops are you guys changing the routes to the news server in JHB?
