In general I have found my experience with mweb has gotten progressively worse. It used to be you could download nvidia drivers at max rate (around 420kb/s on my 4Mbit line) but these days I seldom get drivers faster then 20kb/s. I'm trying to download a trial for Flex Builder from Adobe.com and thats also only going 20kb/s.

There have been network issues ( affecting more than just MWEB ) in the last few days.

Just got an SMS to update me that it's been resolved, my speed at home seems to agree.

What time of day? I have noticed the same, but mainly during office hours. Worse after 10AM. I also found that ftp sites (drivers are usually hosted here) have the worst faring speeds.

Last night at around 1am my latency was finally back to normal. This morning it's rubbish again :(

Hi Demon
Please send me your MWEB details

Regards MWEB Guy

you have it already mweb guy (as per PM yesterday). Shall I send it again?

Along with increased latency I am seeing the same international packet loss from yesterday again:

Mweb - it is glaringly obvious that it's not just some accounts (well, hopefully not, coz that's just lame) that are being badly affected. I really hope the 'engineers' are looking into the problem and trying to fix it because as of this moment, it seems they are doing diddly.

I must say that my Mweb 384k uncapped ADSL has been running at full steam amid this crisis. It does seem that not everyone is affected. I've been downloading video clips all morning. 40kbps - which is typical for a 384 line.

I'm only getting 12.1kps which sucks big time, been like this since yesterday ;(

And now the news server is 100% dead again, just to add to the awful streaming and the non or slow loading of some sites.

jip, got very slow a hour or so ago and just died now

MWEN ISP CEO Derek Hershaw explains that they have a new bandwidth management device at their London POP which is not functioning as expected.

"The new device caused 3 very short (less than 5 minutes) outages in the last week or so. The vendor is on site and will reinstall some of the OS to resolve the problem," said Hershaw.

You are from Cape Town, so afaik you get routed via Sat3 and not SEASCUM.

Not true for 384k in Durban
