MWEB Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

yep,my upload speed was even more then my download speed a few minutes ago.lots of seeds and good trackers, other people on the torrent are having great speed except me.also having 200+ ping on bfbc2 (with nothing downloading in the background)

maybe it will improve tonight because i really hoped that this download would be done by 9AM and it's already 01:40 PM and it still has 20% to go.i guess 11gb in 26hours isn't too bad.

Please keep me informed as to your pings and if it improves later or not.

Kind regards, MWEB Guy

Afternoon MegasXLR, Capped accounts are more likely to get close to line speeds than shaped accounts when downloading.

I will speak to my immediate manager and our network team re your question; "why do JHB have a different experience compared to CPT" and provide you with feedback. Please also inbox me your MWEB email address.

Kind regards, MWEB Guy

Thank you. I do understand but the capped account serve as a test whether there is a line or internet problem before we complain. The main issue is that the JHB guys are mostly the ones with a bad experience while the Cape town guys at the same time post their good experiences. Are the subscriber base so vastly different that JHB are congested?

Yet in all honesty we have to be careful to jump to conclusions. Please see the picture below, when I changed the News server queue to a file that TonyA had goods results with the picture shows the problem clearly. So that proofs that there are many things that effect the download experience. Maybe Mweb must look at there upstream news server "provider", the problem seems to be in that area. As for P2P that seems to be doing the worst in JHB.

That is better than what I could muster.

Thanks for all the information, please also PM me your MWEB email address.

MWEB Guy I got line sync but no Internet connection. What could be the problem? There's no connection to the server stuck on initialize LCP.

Afternoon Dazzla

Please provide me your MWEB email address and we will do further investigation for you and provide you feedback.

To be honest, I fail to see the point of your threads MegasXLR.

You're obviously on a shaped account and trying to compare 1 users experience with another. Have you spoken to MWEB on the phone? PErhaps just relax for a few days, go see the sun, and then see if it improves.

My news server is hmmm..... 'ok' half the speed it should be.

what speeds are you guys now getting on news servers? i am still crawling at 40KB/s (paid astraweb and mweb account; 4 meg uncapped; Pta area). i see some post reporting good speeds on news servers, can any body in JHB/Pta area confirm?

I'm in Cape Town, but have been experiencing the same slow speeds, especially on NNTP as everyone else here. Currently I am absolutely flying at 20kB/s (paid Supernews account), been that way since about 10am. From about 1am this morning to 6am I got speeds of 130kB/s. Torrents seem better, as does HTTP and streaming but all protocals have most definitely been slower for the past 2 weeks or so. When I switch over to AxxessLite, I run just shy of full speed.

Mweb guy/Will - is this purely due to shaping as in the past I have between 1am and 6am got full speed. Has there been a re-prioritisation at MWEB regarding NNTP etc?

Thx!

Hi ZeeCPT
It does appear to be related to shaping, I have your MWEB details so I will investigate and see if there is any other reason for this.

MWEB Guy

To be honest, I fail to see the point of your threads MegasXLR..

Sure, not everyone can comprehend the full picture, so you are forgiven.

Maybe Mweb can see the total picture! This is not shaping, its P2P sacrilege of the worst kind. :)

Mweb crawling all morning at 11 KB/s (Sunday afternoon?)

P2P.jpg

Switched over to Afrihost uncapped via PPPoE dialup, no modem changes 326 KB/s Afrihost was still speeding up, the best was over 350 KB/s

P2P_Afrihost_PPPoE_3.jpg

Disconnect Afrihost Dialup so back on Mweb

I had to wait for a surge to get the best result 10 KB/s! Might as well go back to 56K dialup uncapped?

Funny ... aren't you the main "Stop Complaining Whiner"

They eventually come around when reality sets in.

It seems Mweb releases the shaper for a while and then does it double to compensate. Nothing ever stable.
