MWEB Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

Hi guys

@Tjoker and @lucifr, I'd like to look into this matter for you.

Would you please PM me your details so that I can investigate why you are getting the speeds you are currently getting.

Please include also which sites you are downloading from.

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy

you got PM.
Just a note, that things seem a lot better today for me, did have youtube buffer a lot, but other sites seem much better. Speed test is still no way near my line speed, but at least I can access websites now :)

I am currently looking at alternative ISP's as this will not be acceptable. I also note that you have not responded to my last posts regards these issues.
haha, always cracks me up when someone using MWEB Uncapped says they're unhappy with the service and are looking for another uncapped ISP to better it. People seem to be forgetting that Mweb is pretty much the only ISP in the country offering reasonable uncapped. The rest are IS-based resellers and those accounts plainly suck. But, alas, good luck... lol xD

On my side 384k line since News Server problems started torrent shaping is relaxed slightly, before at 17:00 torrents would be dead now running at 20KB/s not that I use torrents much

Hi guys,

@Tjoker - I have checked your reference number listed and I can see that your account has been escalated to our engineers to be investigated.

@Requim - I will look into your query for you from my side to what I can do for you.

@Nanfeishen - Would you mind please sending me a PM with your details so that I may look into this for you.

@lucifir - PM received, I will look into this for you and provide you with an update as soon as I can. ;)

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy

I think you are forgetting Openweb's 4mb uncapped GOLD.

There are some people here, like me, who would rather spend an extra R200 to get the kind of uncapped product that suits them, rather than spend R539 for a product that is shaped to hell and back. Just take that into consideration when "cracking up".

Remember to add the cost of a paid News Server also, if you using News Server only reason why I'm not running there.

connection with MWEB turns red after few hours. Connection with Telkom is OK. have to restart router and get connected immediately. very much appreciate if who can help with this problem. router model BILLION 400G.

Hi

I'm still awaiting a response on my previous query - my speeds have gotten even worse since then:

@Will - you say your network team has stipulated that there isn't a problem on MWEB's network. Fine, but how do you explain the fact that this many MWEB subscribers suddenly all have the same issues, for roughly the same times, and only with their MWEB accounts. From what I have read here most connections return to normal once the user has swapped from their MWEB account to another ISP. I had a number of issues when I first signed up, thankfully those eventually were fixed and I have had a relatively good service for the past 3 months or so. Now my speeds are worse than ever - it literally has taken me 24 hours to download a 6gb file on a 4mb line. I understand about contention etc, but I think that if you are going to take on a massive subscriber base then you need to upgrade your network infrastructure to match that subscriber base surely? To me there is no value in paying R500+ pm for these speeds, and I'm sure many others feel the same way. So, in conclusion - are you categorically stating one final time that there is absolutely no problem on your side? And are these the speeds I can expect on NNTP, or other shaped protocals? I don't want to waste anymore of your time or mine, so if that is what we can expect then I would like to move to another ISP. But an answer to my questions above would be highly appreciated...

Thank you.

Hi Nanfeishen

I have received your PM thanks, I am looking into your query currently and will provide feedback.

Kind regards
MWEB Guy

@Will, with respect I presume that they will also get the generic response that I got from MwebGuy and that was to say that in total I used 95G for the month and thus should compare that with previous months and as such I should be happy with the service as there is no problems with it. There was no other technical verification done on my system to determine why my P2P torrents on a 4M account is shaped to the same speed as other consumers get on their 0.384M accounts, my speeds were running at less than 20KB/s. I gave picture copies of my experience on this in this thread.

Regards to the news server I found that specific news items do get a good speed but others are limited to 30KB/s. To me it seems it depends on your upstream provider? No explanation was given about this discrepancy.

It's a pity as I defended Mweb in this thread vehemently but it now seems to me something has changed recently and we are not getting the full picture of what happened, I am currently looking at alternative ISP's as this will not be acceptable. I also note that you have not responded to my last posts regards these issues.

Thanks for your effort any way.

Hi MegasXLR

Please PM me your details and I will have a look into this from my side.

Kind regards
MWEB Guy

My NNTP is still so SLOW :( I have had to start using a few direct download sites but its such a mission. Mweb Guy, can you look into my account once more to makes sure please, seeing as your looking into many other people's accounts now.

Hi Sillicur

Are you only experiencing this with NNTP?

Kind regards
MWEB Guy

Yip, my NNTP downloads are also crawling, running at around 13KB/s on my 4mb line. Started Sunday evening

Im only getting 8KB/s - NNTP, 12 KB/s http. I had enough of the BS. I switced to another isp. At least im getting full speed on NNTP with IS.

Hi Zee

At this point I really cannot provide any further insight than was given in my previous post. I have raised the issue with the team, i have outlined the feedback I have so far in my previous post and any further response that I gave you would be pure speculation on my part which I would really prefer not to do at this stage.
