Guys you should really just move over to OpenWeb, I spent hours upon hours "troubleshooting" problems with MWeb and resulted in nada.... Now my line flies and the extra bux is worth it just to have a service that actually works!

Don't know what is happening but speed is flying at the moment. I'm on a 384kbps shaped account and since yesterday youtube streaming and normal http downloads has been full speed again, I hope others will get improvements soon.
????? I thought MWEB does not shape according to usage, this is what you guys have always said in the past. Thanks for finally clearing this up
So then what your saying and what I'm getting are two different things.
So if your on a unshaped, uncapped account and a heavy user your going to be penalized?
So then crappy speeds will continue.......
:wtf: Unshaped accounts are not shaped.
How do you make the connection from MWEB asking about usage to the fact that they throttle based on usage. They have said repeatedly that this is not the case. Stop grasping.
Hi MWEB Guy,
My usage is high this month. 250GB+ the last time I checked (before I started this large HTTP download).
But yeah, considering that we've been told that usage is not a factor, and considering that the download that you see in my graphs is a simple HTTP (port 80) download, I sincerely hope that this doesn't turn out to be a result of my usage.
Besides, that still doesn't explain why my two friends in Cape Town who are ALSO sitting on 250GB+ this month are enjoying full speeds as I type this.
Edit: Yet another friend, this time based in Glenwood, Durban. Same experience as me. His usage is 50GB. I'm convinced this isn't usage-based, but rather routing-based, and the various bandwidth-shaping that goes with those different routes.
update 13h25
http international downloads 110-130KB/s

Troll. I am not making any conclusions. I simply am wondering why usage would matter and why he would ask about if if they don't shape according to usage. I think that's a fair question.
Are you getting this speed with multi-threaded downloads or per single connection?
all my tests are with multithreads to try and peak the account speed, will state if its single threaded
and im in Jhb - Edenvale area![]()
They haven't even announced anything yet - how can it be the solution?
ive been to the other side of the fence, its not pretty, would rather try and help mweb get their ducks in a row again.
