If only "legitimate" uses such as web-browsing etc were multi-threaded too.

Agreed Vaalpens, thought u were changing your tune here for a minute, from reading your previous posts, maybe mweb guys gave you a couple "free months" to keep quiet ;-) (jokes)
We demand faster shaped port 80 traffic!!!! (Wait, what?!)
Seriously, why are we getting shafted on the supposedly highest priority port.
Axxesslite @ R19 per gig. Even when it's slow it's faster than Mweb's 20k/sec priced at R495. Gonna wait and see if speed improve following month end. If not then what's the point of paying so much for dialup speeds? Could just as well dig up my 56k modem and get Telkom's R7 callmore deal going again.![]()
lolface @ the "we demant faster piracy & torrents!" commens
It's been around a week since my last post (wasn't using the MWeb uncapped account for a while) bemoaning (only) the deterioration of news server performance on the account (everything else was fine). I used it again Friday (when I believe some changes had been made by MWeb) and it was flying, performing better than it ever had. Saturday news servers slipped back to being unusable the couple of times I tried. Then on Sunday again performance and speeds were back up. :wtf:
Will only get a chance later to see how it's running today.
Trust me, you dont want to see the news speeds today12kb/s now.
That's fine. For the purpose of the "challenge" I issued to Durban users, whether it is shaped or not is irrelevant. I'm merely highlighting the vastly inferior experience Durban users are currently getting compared to Cape Town users.
Okay, so I can expect horrible port80 speeds on my 4mb shaped uncapped account with mweb due to mweb not being able to manage their bandwidth efficiently, with exception of the guys running teh Capetown network, they should outsource their skills to their Durban and Joburg buddies.
Basically we are shaped to death on even the most popular port 80. Maybe mweb should upgrade their network if they have to shape web browsing to near death in the Durban/Jhb regions.
Hi Sillicur. What were your news speeds like over the weekend?
I'm in CT & my connection has been rubbish for weeks, so I don't necessarily think it's a regional problem.
My MWEB is dead atm, router cant even connect :/
