still waiting for billing department to get to me on a refund / compensation, i only started to really use the service since it was fixed last week friday

So what exactly was "fixed"?

I am thinking of canceling today. I cannot bear another two months of this cr@ppy service. I had hope but only got a statement that I should be very happy and be contend with my total 95GB data usage on a 4M account, the fact that I only managed to download one movie, my kid endured endless buffering of his series his watching and playing a lagged KZ3 is of no consequence, waiting endlessly for any download to happen is the deserved pleasure of having a 4M account with Mweb.

Hmmm, so a week ago I was going to cancel my mweb account. Got a call from mweb cancellations and the lady offered to give me June free with mweb to see if the problems get sorted or not. However I just got my bill and they are still charging me for the month?

And soon you will be blacklisted and ITC will send you an SMS saying they have recommended that MWEB seek a judgement against you.
Get the hell out mate.

Hi Rohan

Please note that the credit for June is in process and should reflect shortly. The reason why the debit order was not cancelled, was due to the fact that you were contacted on the 27 May after the debit order run was completed. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience cause.

Kind regards,

Dear MWEB Guy,

Could you please tell me what is going on at the moment with MWEB speeds?

I am on the 4MB package and speed has been a major issue for a while now. I have a new modem, I had a new line installed in April and everything was hunky dory before and after. I know it has nothing to do with the line. I am clearly not the only person who is complaining about this.

HTTP downloads should not be throttled if that's what we're told - so why am I experiencing speeds of 20 KB/s with an HTTP download on a 4MB package?

Why do we only get the service we're paying for in the very early hours of the morning?

I know what service I was getting before and I was completely happy with that (consistent speeds on HTTP throughout the day, throttled P2P during peak hours). But now everything appears to be throttled apart from a really tiny window of opportunity at a time of day when we're usually fast asleep.

Are these speed issues being addressed urgently or have things changed and we're all being kept hanging on a thread for as long as possible?

Ok, so I also now received a call from Mweb. So I will stop moaning and hope that the satisfaction I had before returns. I gave them permission to monitor my account and look at my [-]il[/-]legal downloads and hopefully will have my old Mweb back on track again.

Speeds where better over the weekend, actually managed to finish downloading some files via http but last night it seemed to worsen again. All was going well, even peaking at 450KB/s on iTunes downloads and then sometime after 7:30pm it all came to a grinding halt to between 10KB/s and 60KB/s. I eventually logged over onto my Axxess lite package to finish the various downloads before I went to bed. I really hope that http downloads and streaming capability gets sorted out real soon because thats what I use the most. p2p is of little interest to me so how that is shaped isnt an issue. Any suggestions MWEB?

Hi PerfectBlue,

Please can you inbox me your MWeb account details in order for me to look into it from our end. I will provide you with feedback as soon as possible.

So why not contact him BEFORE the debit orders run ?
You expect customers to give 1 month full calendar notice but run debits before the calendar month is up.
Indefensible.

My Expectations......

My expectations by NarcoticJoJo.........

1. P2P should run at my Line speed meaning 386kbps line (38.6kbps down) 512kbps line (51.2kbps) and 4mbps line (400kbps) with a 32kbps upload speed. Taking into account I'm not using the internet for anything else at that moment. And it being
healthy.

2. I want to be able to play WoW AND other MMO's on international server with a bearable latency, I'm not expecting sub 100ms but 300-400ms i can work with taking into account distance to server from South Africa. (At any time!!!)

3. I want to be kept updated on all developments that will affect my line and speed during the day and issues that effect others. So if someone on here had a issue and it was resolved by the Mweb reps i would love to know what they did and if the issue stayed resolved. By doing this i could possibly troubleshoot myself and see if it helps.

4. I understand shaping IS necessary but shaping my line to within 0.01% of my linespeed is not a option and then the concept "uncapped" becomes redundant.

5. Fair usage policy's are part of all ISP terms and conditions and so i'll also like to know the shaping protocols put in place by my ISP on how they work and what they are....heavily shaping during office hours is not the answer I'm looking for. I want to know the protocols and how they will effect me.

This kind of honesty will probably put most ISP's out of business unless there really good but never the less it's what i expect from my ISP :)

Well if that's all you want you'll have to change ISP's

My expectations

To be fairly treated by allowing me to get proportional higher downloads on a 4M account than those with a 386K account when downloading.

My NNTP traffic (to Mweb and Astraweb) died at 2pm. Speed test checks out fine so it appears someone has fiddled with the shaper and set nntp to 0Kbps.

Seems to have fixed itself a few mins ago.

Mweb Guy: That personal message is an insult to my intelligence. Not only did you NOT read any of the posts I wrote but you ignored the basis for writing them. I in fact have a 1 megabit line, with a completely stable 18db Noise Margin (well above the needed noise margin for a stable 1 megabit line). I do indeed also have a 4 megabit Mweb Uncapped account.

The problem I have is that with my Mweb Uncapped account, World of Warcraft with a proxy service is UNPLAYABLE. 900ms in game due to pathetic throughput. My line has nothing to do with this. The reason my line has nothing to do with this is that when I change my ISP to my WebAfrica UNSHAPED account, I get a 100% stable reliable 200ms to WoW. How dare you try and play it off as my line? I have been working with computers for over 15 years. I know a lot more than most people. When I come on here and tell you exactly what my problem is I expect you to help me deal with it, not try and play it off as it being a problem with my line. Please go back and read my last 10-15 posts and maybe you will get an understanding of what I was posting. As I said. I will not stop complaining until World of Warcraft gets fixed. Trying to play it off as a line problem when I clearly explained what is happening is just sad. You have aggressively shaped World of Warcraft and as a result even with a proxy service it is UNPLAYABLE.

With continued posts of this nature, I imagine it won't be long before Mweb Guy's reliability on these forums will match that of Mweb's news servers of late... Then who will you call for help? Plz try keep posts clean, concise, and mature/respectable even if you receive responses that don't seem to match your expectations

Why ? Just filter out what you don't want to read. There are as many opinions as there are users of this forum. Try not to dictate to others based on your own sample of one.

Personally I think my previous post was exactly that. Concise, clean and mature/respectable. I could have raged and said bad words but I did not. When my last 15 posts all explain my problems in such detail, receiving a PM that has nothing to do with my problem is an insult. I have once again explained it in more detail for Mweb to try and help me with this matter. I have eliminated my line is as a variable by simply changing my ISP to an unshaped service. It was clearly never a problem with my line. Instead of responding with the actual facts, trying to redirect my problem as a line fault, in my eyes, constitutes an insult.
