Due to your post I just tested the news server for the first time in weeks after I gave up hope and are getting 139+ KB/s. I am impressed. Lest see how long this lasts before we get back to crawl speed.

Just finished all the WoW patches activated WTFast as well and you guest it login with WTFast 3k+ ms and without 15k+ ms at 1 in the morning?!?! Logged in with WebAfrica 200ms So with all this complaining i thought :wtf: it can't be that bad.....right? Seems the majority is right.

Can MWEB please tell us whats going on?

OK, after getting 1mb speeds on my 512 uncapped MWEB account last week, I'm back to 0.44mb speeds according to speedtest.net - my adsl account status also still shows I'm still on the 512 package. I can upgrade manually for the same price though. I wonder if I should upgrade manually or wait for MWEB to do it automatically (the company is paying for my line so manually is a bit of red rape)...

Right. I am going to call M-Web on their bluff.

M-Web Guy, please can you PM me a temporary uncapped, unshaped M-Web account. I have reset my ports with Telkom, I've reset my M-Web account and yet I am still downloading at less than 1/4 my line speed.

I will run a test on the shaped and the unshaped account, and post the results here. Let's see if it's the shaping or if it's just our "malfunctioning lines" that Telkom seems to be issuing en masse.

Alternatively, if someone else has another 4Mbit account I can run a test on, I'd really appreciate some temporary login details so I can run the same test on the same line and post some results. PM me.

right, so if you are experiencing lag in wow, while using some sort of proxy service. Try and switch the product to connect over another port as mweb are shaping port 22 ( default ssh port) quite badly. The current port i am using 3724 ( also the wtfast port, as well as wow) and it seemed to rectify the problem.

MOrning Vaalpens, gaming traffic is given a high priority on our network (will varify about the wtfast server).

I have tried to do some testing on your line and received the following error message, this usually means that there might be a DSLAM issue. I also noticed that this problem has occured in the past. Please contact Telkom for more information and please provide me feedback.

same here gargmel, double charged after 5 months, not like the 1st debit order...
i opened a ticked with billing, waiting for a response, but also insisting on some refund / compensation etc, for the product being not usefull untill the 27th of may for me

Recap:
1) Mweb Uncapped 4 megabit shaped account. Idle 712/500ms. In Random Battleground 1100-1400ms. Battleping showing instantaneous ping of 235ms.
2) WebAfrica Unshaped Prepaid account. Idle 200/200ms. In Random Battleground 250-400ms. Battleping showing instantaneous ping of 185ms.

Now please can you explain to me what is causing this? The only difference between the 2 accounts is shaped vs unshaped. This leads me to believe that the problem is occuring with the shaping on the Mweb Account.

You are not seriously comparing a shaped with an unshaped account and expect the shaped account to perform the same - or?
