835 pages and mweb does nothing and mweb guy keeps trying to resolve one complaint at a time instead of stepping back and looking at the bigger picture. Just great.

Why am I getting such slow speeds? Mweb 384 shaped uncapped.. I have tested now for a few days, morning and night, and I get just about the same result:

Mybroadband International Speed Test:
Test conducted on Wed Jun 08 2011 11:57:40 GMT+0200 (South Africa Standard Time)

Download Speed: 250 kbps (31.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 97 kbps (12.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 305 ms

Down used to be in the 39kbps+ area. Note, that this is around the fastest my results are getting now, from testing the last few days (days and nights). Also tested on an Afrihost account, and the speeds perform normally.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

20 minutes later now, and tested again. Now my speed test download result says 11kbps.

http://www.speedtest.net/result/1331910180.png 11kps down

http://www.speedtest.net/result/1331914225.png 21kbps down

And no I'm not dling anything else, no one else on the network, etc etc. I'm not going to let this drop, until I get an answer. Virus/spyware/malware/adware scanner is up to date, and computer is clean.

+1. I'd be happy if I got 10Kbps during the day - for the past few days I've been getting 0Kbps (that's zip, nothing, zilch, nada) until 2am when the shaping is relaxed.

Is offpeak now 2am until 8am?

I also still get 0kb during the day from astraweb.... only during the golden period do I get a connection to astraweb and then its at full speed. Not complianing about the full speed. ..

The 0kb during the day is not shaping.... There seems to be huge problem how the shaping works.. Mweb seem to say that there network is running better.. of course it is ..no one can connect to it.

Come on Mweb I pay good money for my account..

My international http speeds are also still slow.. I cant get faster than 80kb ..

and yes I am a cape town user..... with a 4 Meg line.

Newsdemon sitting at 0kb as well.

0 kb/s from UsenetServer during the day as well.

Imagine Mweb acknowledged this. Dynamic shaping ... haha.

News server up to crap again and high latency ingame (local) ..... yay

If anything, please fix the damn latency to local servers ffs, no reason why so many of us should be sitting with 150-250 ping on local game servers!

Hi JoseP,

I can assure you, we are looking at the bigger picture and have noticed most of the complaints are the same. DL speeds.

We are currently getting some complaints about DL speeds being slow and some customers speeds are fine but we have to look at each user's connection as not all customers have the same PC, ADSL line, knowledge of the internet or from the same area.

When I pick up a new member on the forum, I will engage him and ask him/her specific's because I don't know what type of account they have compared to the other forum users. I can only imagine the frustration you going through and if you read the below article you'll see MWEB is on the road to better customer experience.

We are making serious changes that will have a positive impact on the end user and have looked at the bigger picture ( Quote:“We are actively engaging on various forums with our users and we take their feedback into account when we do our planning and optimization,” said Jansen.")

@MWEB Guy

For me personally, I've noticed that NNTP is being shaped a lot more heavily than it was in the past. These days 0 throughput during the day, 30KB after 7PM until that small window from 2AM -> 8AM.
For me, the service has thus changed from what it was when I signed up. Yet I am still bound to a calendar month's cancellation notice.

It doesnt seem fair to me, that the service can be changed dynamically, but as a customer, i do not receive any flexibility when it comes to cancellation. I essentially have to sit with a product that no longer performs as it did previously for 2 months now because of this calendar months notice.

Thank you. More openess and feedback will go a long way

Mweb half dead, have to switch to an Afrihost account. Glad I canceled end of this month, this is too frustrating.

To be fair if it was a client side issue the problems wouldn't disappear when changing ISPs.

I couldn't watch the streaming E3 presentations with MWEB but could with Afrihost and Openweb.

hmm getting
The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading

on mega upload and others, don't get it on Telkom

Hi Qwikslver,

Please excuse me for asking but I don't understand your post.

I do understand "I couldn't watch the streaming E3 presentations with MWEB but could with Afrihost and Openweb." as there has been many similar E3 posts on the other forums also, which we are aware of.

Could you please clarify?

Kind regards,

MWEB Guy

Just commenting on you always blaming client side first.

Hi Qwikslver,

Nowhere in my reply to JoseP have I blamed the customer end.

Hi there

is there any issues related to the steam. yeas at the moment it's giving issues. can't log into steam telling me no connection immediately.

Can I get an answer to this please.

Hi Gimaru,

I have not over looked your question. I will reply to you as soon as I have completed checking your account/line.

Kind regards,

MWEB Guy

I also see my speedtest results is a bit weird. My speeds is only at 2MB/s and also my latency is sitting at 100+ms. I have phoned telkom in the past and they have checked my connection and our exchange point and everything there has been fixed
