I would just be glad to get more than 100KB on a normal download. For what it's worth, the MWEB business (bonded ADSL) solution is also no better - our 10mbps lines are not used as MWEB is not able to get them running. For business I suggest Neotel fibre as a good alternative (and more cost effective as MWEB business uncapped) for the home-user I think Afrihost is still the best provider.

@MWEB - what does it mean when you guys say "reset your account"?

We are all suffering here, cant even have a decent game of dota at night, but i just connect via a webafrica prepaid account.. and i get a better experience.

Hi Zord

As I explained last week the p2p experience is completely dynamic. We don't specify times of day when the traffic allocation is changed, but if there is a high demand for priority traffic then you can expect that p2p traffic will be forced to back off as far as necessary so that the network can meet this demand without compromising the performance.

By the same token p2p is being allowed to burst into open space more dynamically in off peak times so you will find that over the longhaul you should still be getting a very decent experience on p2p traffic. If you have a need to retrieve p2p content at high speeds regardless of the time of day you should consider moving to an unshaped product which does not have these limitations.

It's not quite a dictatorship, as you are not forced to use their service, but the torrent thing is a bit ridiculous, yes.

NTTP still dead and well after normal office hours... OW here I come. Sorry Mweb just too many compaints and shoddy service in my 1st month of subscription. I'll do my voting with my wallet.
 
So I got another warning. Downloaded in excess of 20 gigs on June the 11th (Saturday), June the 16th (public holiday) and June the 18th (Saturday). This apparently constitutes "repeated instances of prolonged download sessions at line, or near line speeds which is placing an undue burden on our network and is not in keeping with our Acceptable Usage Policy."

Now MWeb needs to come clean on this. Since when did the rules change on this?

I wonder if it can be argued to ASA and whoever regulates stuff like this that 0.0kb/s is in fact capping. 0.1kb/s is shaping, 0.0kb/s is capping. Just curious, cause if it can be argued successfully Mweb will be in deep trouble, yet again.

The rules have not changed, our acceptable usage policy clearly indicates that exhibiting a pattern of behavior of continuous unattended downloading may result in warnings being issued. We are however not at liberty to discuss individual cases on the forum in the interest of protecting your privacy. please follow the appropriate channels and provide your feedback to our abuse team as requested in the correspondence you have received.

Last thing I read here is that any thing that encrypts or secure data being transmitted from any related FS/Torrent/News is considered a violation as it "fools" the shaper.

0kbps is censorship.

That's a point, and although it's ridiculous, I wouldn't be too worried if I was getting a slow speed (even super slow) during the day, it's the utterly dead no-speed that is irksome.

I see I'm currently getting 0.4 KB/s. Awesome!

From my POV the rules have changed. I've been using the service for a year in exactly the same manner and now I suddenly start to receive warnings. If you have a problem with SSL on Usenet please state it. Don't hide behind vague rules which seems to be enforced when it suits MWeb.
