I can also confirm that Gmail takes ages to open on my MWEB connection; using the Voda stick, this is instant! Not sure what is going on-also noticed how Skype calls keep breaking and falling on MWEB. I thought it was just me. But it getting to be a regular event.

Can more people confirm this? Not good if MWEB is making this even more painful.

It is impossible to stay logged in to GChat... I had the same problem with MWEB a few months ago. Please implement the fix you used then.

Hi guys

I've just chatted to our engineers about this again and they have picked up an issue in this area. It seems we are getting intermittent timeouts to some of the destinations in Google's server farm which handles Gtalk and related services. The underlying cause seems to be peering related and they are working with Google to resolve the matter.

I'll let you know as soon as I have any further updates on this.

@ Will, my account was cancelled and i sent an email aswell as an PM to Mweb Guy as instructed in your Sig and no response.

Also got a notification that payment went through from FNB so i don't see what was the problem. Also didn't receive any abuse notice so cannot be that :/

I only hope its an error.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Edit: Mweb Guy responded saying i must send an email to abuse ? :/

I'm afraid that's not really much to go on Smiley - Skype traffic gets top priority and I haven't seen any similar complaints which would indicate that everything in this area is working fine. We should start by checking your general connection quality and work from there - please let MWEB Guy have your details and they'll do all the necessary checks for you.

Obviously it's also helpful if you take a look at the latency and low level network conditions on your line when you experience the problem as this might help to identify the underlying cause.

I can't seem to port forward port 80 (22 works fine though) anyone else experiencing this?

Hi there

I have sent you a detailed response via PM.

Have you disabled protected access on your mweb account?

DSL Protected Access
This service makes it harder for hackers to get access to your ADSL connection. Protected Access is highly recommended for your own online safety.

Protected Access will prevent the following:

Incoming Web (HTTP) connections.
Incoming "Telnet" connections that are used for remote access to your PC.
Incoming connections via commonly hacked channels (ports 254 and 255).
Click ENABLE PROTECTED ACCESS below. Please disconnect and reconnect to the Internet for this service to take effect.

@Will

I have replied each time an abuse letter was received.

Hardly any feedback was received back from the abuse team, just another generic response and the next day, another notice.

On 27 June I received a notice of termination, to which I replied immediately.

Nothing more was heard until today when my service was terminated, and guess what, my money for July was taken off my bank account!!!!

Can you please help.

NNTP hasnt been working for the past few days for me... tried 196.28.182.50 and news.mweb.co.za and the latter doesnt even connect while the former just sits there not downloading anything... Has something changed? or has something gone wrong?

It seems to be more than GTalk/GMail services. doubleclick.net and gstatic.com are very slow and make browsing pages that use these Google services very slow too. This has happened before about two or three months ago.

Mweb's new shaping.. NTTP is shaped to 0kb during the day.. can only really use it at night

I'm sad. My GMail won't load... it just sits there forever. If it ever does load, it comes up with errors. Any way to get this to work a bit better?

Hi Tonyvr, thanks for the feedback.

Evening Donovan, I replicated your problem at our test bench. The query is already being investigated by our network team, as per the feedback provided by Will.

Kind regards,
MWEB Guy
