Evening Craig, please provide me more detail; as per our record there has only been one router disconnection today and you have managed 194gig of data already for the month of July on a shaped 4 meg account.

Isn't that blatant violation of a users privacy blurting out someones usage like that?.......
 
Ok, so I was phoned by Mweb this morning stating they have emailed me the "test account" details to test if there is any improvement of performance on it than my own Mweb account. I tried to log onto it now, seeing as this is when my troubles usually are at a high, but got this (Mweb hosted landing page):


Invalid Username or Password ERROR 601
You have entered an Incorrect Username or Password for your Internet connection.

Please check your login details and try again.

If you cannot remember your password and would like us to change it for you, simply fax us a completed password request form along with a copy of your ID, or a company letterhead if this is your Company's email address, to 021 596 8388 and we will send you a new, temporary password for that username.We'll also provide you with instructions so you can change it online to a password of your choice.

I'm having problems the last few weeks on our 4mbps account. Youtube videos won't load properly, downloads are extremely slow (even http - 30/40kbps).

Just did Speedtest and found this: http://www.speedtest.net/result/1393729864.png

Is this due to the Seacom maintenance? Fortunately browsing is okay for now.

Are you only experiencing this issue on youtube video's?
Have you tried another video streaming site and are the results similar?

Also please try to do the MWEB speedtest to compare results.

Switch to another ISP whilst you're still sane. I did and I've never been happier.

If so, between what time during the day is it problematic.

Hi, I've just tested justin.tv (13:20) and it's much better currently than the last couple of days in the evening. I usally watch youtube and justin.tv between 22:00 and midnight before I go to sleep. Will let you know how it is tonight.

It's not just on Youtube or videos - downloads are almost as bad as it was on my 384kbps line.

I've tried the Mweb speed test as well and it managed to go up to 2.01 mbps. Then I tried Speedtest.net again and the result was almost worst than the first test (0.9 mbps).

But don't worry about it - it's probably just wonky today.
 
Speed test show I'm getting about 97% of what I'm use to. But since yesterday is has been slow going for me. SEACOM?

@MWEB: Why am I getting "spam" email from MWEB now? Something today about some security company wanting to communicate with me via MWEB and I must select to ACCEPT it I want to receive emails from this. It's not STRICTLY spam, but I think it's quite a poor show for MWEB to be doing this. And under the banner of MWEB Business.

Also, the email quoted in the message and the email address the message was sent to is NOT my MWEB email address -- it's one of my alternate ones (did I give it to MWEB somewhere?).

MWeb Guy, so I was given the test account to test comparisons with my own account. Is this not a bad time to do this though, as I understand Seacom is doing maintenance? Or will it not make a difference?

It should not make any real difference, as we have secured enough alternate bandwidth so that our customers should not experience any change in our service.

Very bad international timeouts tonight. Its not my line, afrihost does not time out. Resetting router check. So whats up Mweb?
