Mweb contacted me to transfer my telkom adsl rental to mweb. just need to fill out the form and send back.

Problem is, the form fields to fill out is all misaligned. I cannot in good conscience fill this for out and sign on the dotted line!
POOR PR MWEB!

Another thing. If I were to convert to mweb, will I be losing connectivity during the transfer period of 15 days?

What is the BIG plus for me to transfer to mweb?

Option B
You transfer your existing Telkom ADSL line to MWEB, under which
circumstances you will consent in writing that MWEB may terminate your
existing ADSL line with Telkom and that we may transfer your ADSL line
to MWEB and you indemnify MWEB against any damages or
penalties which may arise from the termination of your existing
Telkom ADSL line
.
Huh?

@MWEB: Why am I getting "spam" email from MWEB now? Something today about some security company wanting to communicate with me via MWEB and I must select to ACCEPT it I want to receive emails from this. It's not STRICTLY spam, but I think it's quite a poor show for MWEB to be doing this. And under the banner of MWEB Business.

Also, the email quoted in the message and the email address the message was sent to is NOT my MWEB email address -- it's one of my alternate ones (did I give it to MWEB somewhere?).

Hi Sabrewolfy

The company in question are using an Bulk Messaging Service offered by MWEB Business, we do not have any control over the lists they utilize so they must have picked your address up from somewhere. The system has built in measures to ensure responsible mailing and opt-out capability.

The initial mail you received above is essentially an up front notification from the Bulk Mailer letting you know that they are attempting to communicate with you. If you don't click on the acceptance link the Bulk Mailer will exclude you from any further campaigns run by this client.

Kind Regards
Will

Hi Blender

The plus points for you would be a cost saving on your total ADSL bill. Paying Telkom for the line and having a seperate data account is more expensive than the bundled price.
Also it means that we will manage your line for you going forward, meaning that you have a single point of contact for any problems you might encounter and we will deal with Telkom on your behalf on any line related issues.

There is no loss of connectivity during the transfer window. As soon as the transfer is confirmed your account will reflect on Telkom's systems as a wholesale product and the billing for the data portion of your service will cease and by incorporated into your MWEB all-inclusive package.

You will still pay Telkom directly for your Analog voice rental and call costs.

Kind Regards
Will

Good Morning Kimbo, which sites are you having trouble browsing at the moment? Please provide me tracers and pings to the relevant sites.

Thanks. The mail was "branded" with MWEB Business, etc. so it looked like it came from MWEB Business. Someone from MWEB has called me today and I've forwarded the email to him at his request.

OK, so if there's a physical fault on the copper, MWEB will deal with Telkom?

Just wanted to say that my line has been perfect for a few weeks now. Just realised I haven't had any cause to bitch and moan for ages, so thought I should come and say thanks ;)

My torrents are even coming down at decent speeds during the day, which is a bonus.

Everything seems very stable, gtalk hasn't dropped in a long time whereas it was up and down constantly a while back.

Well done :D

I have some insight as to why they put this measure in place and it is very much with the intention of providing a service which caters to clients who have a need to send bulk email, but with the relevant protection in place to prevent the service from being used in an irresponsible manner.

I fully understand why you might have found the branding on this mailer to be misleading though and I share some of your concern around this so I will definitely take it further.

The last two weeks or so I cant do anything in the mornings. well not even mornings. untill about 2pm. Try and work. Disconnect all the time. Try and play some HoN. Disconnect all the time. WTF... I use this line to work. I have my router open on one screen. It keeps dropping the connection. It's not just "lag" ........

Afternoon Forsaken, please provide me your MWEB email address and I will interrogate your line from my end. Once we have ruled out the line as a possible cause, we will troubleshoot further.

OK so I'm definately being throttled on newsgroups - astraweb and panic - doesn't matter what port I use. Mweb - can you confirm that you are throttling newgroups? I get max 80kb/s...
