Connection gone to absolute rubbish again ..... no international and extremely slow local. Every evening now is getting a bit much.

I have tested your line and the readings seem good.
Can you do a speed test and send me the results and also do a trace route to a local and international websibe.

Regards
MWEB Guy

Trying to access a Youtube video, and just ends up in a white screen. I noticed it's trying to load:

o-o.preferred.mweb-jnb1.v32.Iscache1.c.youtube...

Several refreshes, and it just stays a white screen, trying to load that. What is that?

Uhm, when it happens I have to switch accounts to post. It rights itself after a few minutes (anything from 2 minutes to 15 minutes). Meanwhile my buddy sitting right next to me on another account, continues whatever he's doing. The other day when a whole host of people moaned about the network dipping, that is what is still happening.

What is MWEB's stance with regards to shaping video streams? I'm a big Starcraft 2 fan and I enjoy watching various streams on sites such as Justin.tv and GomTV.net. A few months back I would watch my afternoon HQ (900kbs) SC2 stream on GomTV.net with no hitches but now I'm lucky if I can even stream their SQ (450kps) version. The same goes for Justin.TV where little while ago I could watch streams at an enjoyable 720p but this afternoon (and late evenings for that matter) I find myself unable to stream a watchable version of a measly 360p. This is rather unfortunate as streaming is one of the few reasons I sit on a 4meg line but am unable to make use of even 30% of it.

Has MWEB shaped these services harder or is it some other lingering issue? The performance of these services has gradually degraded over the course of 2-3 months to it's current unbearable state.

<snip>.

I have had a theory on this one for a while now, DSTV is part of MWEB (Naspers group)
The DSTV On Demand streams work beautifully - cause its on their own IP transit.
Anything outside of their network 'they have to pay for'.
Hence the shaping

Hi Kalekin,

Please provide me with your MWEB account details and I'll investigate your account further.

Kind regards,

MWEB Guy

Constant linkdeads on Dark Age of Camelot, constant time outs on browsing. Doesn't seem to matter how much you guys phone me, this problem is not getting resolved, and is getting worse by the month. Lets rather not open another case for this, because it's just phone call after phone call of no improvement.

Even trying to login to my Mweb email on the Mweb site, is timing out constantly.

Hi Gimaru,

I have refreshed your MWEB account. Please power down your router for 20-30min then test and provide me with feedback.

Rouxenator

What sort of downloads are you referring to ? Has this improved perhaps ?

This morning the ping times improved to normal, down from 200ms last night to 19ms this morning. So I assumed you fix the problem on your side. Speed was still the same, 30kb/s down and 11kb/s up even though its a 4mbps account synced at 4mbps. I rebooted the router and all is normal now.

What caused this dip in performance on your side last night?

Thank you for the feedback Rouaxenator, I am not sure for the reason in the dip in your experience last night.
I will have to look into this.

I would just like to thank Mweb for the brilliant service I have received.

I've been a Mweb subscriber since they acquired the Netactive accounts and have never had a problem until 3 weeks ago when a fault developed on my line. I posted here that I was having problems and within an hour Mwebguy had contacted me and started assisting me.

They handled all the communication with Telkom, so I didn't have to go through the frustration of trying to get hold of someone. They kept me up to date with what was going on and called to see what had happened every time a Telkom techie had been out here.

Thanks to everyone at Mweb who helped with the problem and for the excellent customer service you provide.
