MWEB uncapped wireless broadband services launched

Seems expensive to me. Also just so you know there no link to the forum on the article.

Keep in mind that these are business services - hence should be compared with Uncapped Business ADSL. The prices are quite competitive when compared with other business offerings - even ADSL.

ADSL is however still first prize of course :)

Compared to 10Gigs of 3G data, this is decent. I would pay that for a uncapped internet connection. I would pay that for any internet connection besides 3G.......

This is a decent offering to those that it applies to. Gr8 idea for backup bandwidth or secondary supply of bandwidth. Nicer option than MTNot "uncapped but throttled"

Well done Mweb, as a business solution it can really offer some value since its part of the unshaped, uncapped accounts. I doubt we'll see many residential users taking up this offer though and 5KM from the base station will definitely limit the market it will apply to in any case.

I hope MWEB's Network Engineers are all for setting up Nodes/POPs on Client owned premises.
If someone 5Kms out allowed them to do this, suddenly the coverage is 10km in that direction!

I'm sure there are plenty Building owners the would let the guys install stuff just to say a massive F U to the Mobile guys (Incl. Neotel) and Telkom for that matter!!!

Wish I could ditch Telkom but this seems a bit expensive to prove a point ;) Sticking with MWeb's DSL offering...

And MWeb continue to impress :)

Indeed quite surprised. Now if they are able to offer something more affordable to the home user, and have some form of stability on their network, I'll cancel my ADSL line and move over to this. Telkom better catch a wake up, they are shooting themselves in the foot on a daily basis. They either sort their over extended network out in residential areas, or affordable WiMax will be the only alternative consumers have. I'm tired of paying for something that I'm not getting, and I'm not interested in that "up to 4 meg" nonsense either. There is a BIG leap from 640 kbit/s to 4000 kbit/s.

Really great news! Would love getting one of these for my complex and sharing it between a few people...

Is this month-to-month or a contract of 12 / 24 months?

Also a good idea for complexes. In fact very good idea to not have even 1 Hellkom service. Personally if the apples matched the Hellapples i would not have a second phone to my mobile. But ADSL=landline have to have.

Well done MWeb, those are good prices for business lines and I bet the stability of the service is far better than Neotel, Screamer and iBurst WiMax.

Now for a consumer WiMax product.

You know what I like about Mweb, they launch things, finish and kla. As apposed to companies like Neotel, iBurst, MTN, Vodacom, etc who always say, we plan to do this, we plan to do that, and their plans never materialize.
