Not going to contest this but since I've never been on a scooter myself, what makes something like the burgman a copromise? Sitting position looks the same as a bike so the only thing that I can see that is different are the smaller wheels.

I watched a few YT videos last night, and it does seem like a very good machine, and it looks cool.

One more Q ?

Do i need a licence before i buy, or can i buy it, and then start getting ready for getting the licence ?

Go get your learners or else you won't be able to insure it.

Smaller wheels
Smaller brakes
Typically smaller engine. Ones with bigger engines are typically heavier than an equivalent motorcycle

It's really just a worse motorcycle in every form, except in highly congested cities (and even then most 'adventure' type motorcycles will offer a better vantage point)

You need at least a learners if you are looking to buy it on finance. Cash is no issue. And like Sinbad said, reputable insurers will require a learners as well
 
In heavy traffic a scooter is faster and more stable. (and narrower)
Scooter is not for High way travel at all. Get a bike it you must go on the high way.

No, it's not. I've done enough commuting to know- in fact, most of my 10 years riding has been commuting; sad I know, but true. Also, vantage point- and I'm saying that knowing my own bike's vantage point is compromised by its design. Being able to see a couple of cars ahead helps a lot more than any perceived 'stability'.

Uhm no and no. I'm yet to be on a scooter that is more stable than a proper bike and faster is simply not an option. They flex terribly like the front and rear are in two different dimensions and also vibrate badly.

And it's not any narrower in fact it's often wider in many places compared to same capacity bikes.

Then there is also the lack of balance afforded by having your legs sitting in front of you.

The big high powered scooters are the exception here...but they aren't any cheaper and again for similar money not as stable as bike equivalents although way more so than your average commuter scoot.

A scooter is a complete compromise vehicle with it's only major benefit in most cases being the built-in storage. Nothing else is better about it outside of cost and maintenance.

Now that is an argument I could entertain by and large because a Scooter's lower center of gravity design makes it much simpler to go electric and carry more batteries without massive compromise.

Comfort maybe on the higher spec models especially if you are two people going on out of town trip for the day.

No the sitting position isn't the same.

Haven't personally ridden one but can see from pics that it's still very much legs up front like sitting in a chair just a bit wider with feet apart.

I ride scooters like that anyway and it's still not great.

And the small wheels and tyres are very much a big part of the problem.

Go ride one you'll immediately understand. If you can actually ride a bike there is no reason to get a scooter.

Yeah that would really come down to a per model and price comparison basis but also amount to a minority situation some of the time and per application and not holistically as a concept.

I mean big touring motorcycles are equally compromised towards that very purpose and generally crappy everywhere else.

In the olden days scooters were the automatic option for being cheaper but that doesn't always apply any more. And even then it's a compromise because you get less for your money.

Seriously go ride one and you'll understand everything. I would ride your Grom over most scooters any damn day.
