Sheesh - mine is due very soon...am hoping for <2k @ BMW
I love the loan bike idea...any other dealerships have the same service?
Only ones in my experience were Harley Davidson but it wasn't guaranteed like BMW does it.

BMW have literally taken a bike off the floor for me to use because they messed up my booking and forgot to book the courtesy bike.

I try and go as early as possible - once snagged a ride on a 1000XR Centurion to Jozi - what a pleasure trip that was!

haha. yes. I have them spread around a bit though and offshore although thats getting quite tough according to my broker. But yes, besides a scroge safe full of coins there isnt really a way to 100% cover yourself. The way I see it though is at least the money i put in goes to add to an amount. whereby insurance is a fee for incase. that money is gone if you dont claim.

Maybe Im stupid I dunno, but it is what it is. :)
You might never claim in short term insurance but life insurance always ends in a claim, provided it hasn't lapsed.

I have cleaned up many a mess of people getting it wrong on the road yes.

And I've done a lot of community outreach stuff over the years as well, so yeah I'm pretty well sorted thank you very much.

On all of My messes that you have to clean up, you are actually about 90% wrong. Didnt know you knew me so well. I can assure you that my family and myself will never be a burden on you or your taxes. They will be stolen into that handy "unrecoverable debt" column on the ledger long before anyone I know sees a dime.

I actually do know where the money really goes so believe what you like, i will follow what I know.

Out of curiosity

do you pay e-toll?
do you pull every unroadworthy car off the road as they too will inevitable, cost you?
etc.

if you feel confident to fight for something like this does it stop at the keyboard? this is out of interest by the way, not trying to make you look bad or prove a point. I learnt to ignore drama when I got divorced.

true. But say you fall on hard times. I dont recall exactly but last i looked you actually lose your policy if you stop paying. Wouldnt putting that money into an investment make more sense?

You are obviously quite savvy with this stuff. I am old fashioned ;) . Ide rather haeva statement I can look at and know that if I dont pay for the next year that I still have that amount sitting there.

Yeah that is the truth, you need to be there at the crack of dawn if you want the big and fancy bikes.

Apparently people are very full of **** about getting a bike same spec level as theirs, personally I like getting something completely different every time.

First post and admits to breaking the law, bags about it and then gets all huffy and puffy when it's pointed out how wrong that way of living is

Seems like an easy "add to ignore"

hahaha. glad you got that off your chest.

just to put it into perspective. I have been riding bikes for 20 years with no license. the rules mean nothing. Sadly the selfishness of drivers in this country is a culture and not fixable by extra license training or more rules. Not to sound like an anarchist or macho guy , but in the old days in the army or as a kid, if I drove the way people do today you got a beating. either from a stranger or your own people. Nobody 'feels' the consequences of their actions anymore. I treat people with respect because i know what getting punched for being a snotty teenager feels like. Its a lesson that has very sadly fallen away in todays society. On many occasions in bike and car I have stopped someone on the road and got out to ask what the problem is and they have a massive mouth when locked in their tin can and moving. but when you walk over to talk they wont even open the window. Problem is not road rules or education, its an overall bad attitude.
All you had to do was leave out ONE line and all your other valid points would not have been overlooked.
Before I get targeted let me say I do have a licence and insurance and all other financial service **** which I hate paying coz I know I'm being ripped off but I'm told I have to have it. You are silly to not have a licence but brave to go against the institutions.

Side note: I have a friend who worked for an insurer, her job was to find reasons for a policy not to pay out, and she got commission on the amount she saved the company by not paying out on a policy. She worked in life insurance department, she left her job because it became too difficult telling widows that they won't be getting anything from the money they paid for the last 12 years. The barstards are ruthless and medical aid is the worst!

Thank you for the sensible reply. An open mind goes a very far way.

By way of comparison, what would a 30k service cost at Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki etc? Does it depend on the bike? Does a 30k service on an adventure bike cost vary compared to a sport/super bike?
My recent 12k service of a Honda cbx 250 cost R1800 :(

Way ahead of you there mate. :)

It is okay to ride without a license. Just remember if a public service vehicle hits you, or if you fall victim of poor road conditions and a lack of maintenance do not go knocking on the door of RAF.

Driving from Centurion to Jhb for the 1st time in a long while this morning. Realised again why I would rather pay more whilst using the Gautrain as some people on the road just aren't able to give way to bikes lanesplitting on the highway. Why do some drivers HAVE to cut off a bike trying to get through traffic? The animosity is sickening...

Be careful out there guys and girls.

I do that commute daily. Most motorists are aware of and are courteous to bikers (infact, if I had to nod a 'thank you' to every driver, I end up with a stiff neck by time I got to my destination). I had a chop on grayston the other afternoon driving on the white line (there was some K@K with the robots so the traffic was at a standstill), I revved the bike to get his attention, he looks out his window at me and then proceeds to cross the line further to block me. The guy in the next lane saw what was happening and moved so I could pass. When I pulled up alongside said chop, I politely told him not to be a d00s just because he can't go anywhere and carried on riding. I think that from the blank expression on his face, he was too thick to understand

Also have a friend who broke up with her boyfriend because that was his job. She could not get her head around how he could be so ruthless.

And definitely don’t hit a Porsche or Ferrari because your life will be over.
